Question about Refrigerators
We have an Amana Bottom Freezer Refrigerator model # DRB 1901 CW. It is not cooling again this year. Last year we called a repair man and he found a faulty Limitor and replaced it (that is how he spelled the part on the paper work). Is there another name for this part and can a owner buy and repair it themselves? Also where is this located on the refrigerator? It would be nice if we could repair it ourselves for last year the repair man charged $227. Thanks for any help you can provide.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.

could be a glitch in the defrost cycle the adaptive defrost control could be faulty and when you unplugged it you might have reset it it should be ok till monday but i would just get the basics untill the tech looks at it

Have same problem with my basic whirlpool refridgerator 2 months old. Warranty guy came out. He said the vents between the freezer/fridge air are clogged with ice. this happens if the door is left open for awhile which allows water to condensate, then closed, water freezes.
Said to left fridge defrost completely for 24 hours to let ice melt thn plug back in. I'll update if this does not work.

There is a vent that is connected from the freezer down to the fridge right where the fan is,make sure nothing is blocking it.
