Whirlpool calypso washing machine (by 5 users)
The washing machine is coming on for about 4 secs. and then stops and starts again and it won't drain the water out of the machine, what could be wrong

I have whirlpool calypso: model number GVW9959KQ2 (white)
serial number CP3239783. I started washing an area rug but wash cycle did not go thru and i got "ob" error. I took out rug and tried to complete the cycle without anything in it but then I got "ld" error. water is not draining. Itried extra spin cycle, rinse and spin only...but washer is not draning. water is leaking all over the place and inside is full of suds. call Whirlpool service 800 number, thye gave me local repair person. he came and told me water pump is shot.
washer is going through spin but water is not draining.
he gave me an estimate of 356.00 to fix it. (parts and labor).
He charge me 85.00 to diagnose the problem.
What do u think? did he tell me right thing? I do not want spend 356.00 to fix an old one......
what is the capacity of this model? they do not write it anywhere in the manual. thank you

me too. But after it cuts on and off a couple of times, it stops and gives an "LD" error. This will be about the 4th time I call for a repair on this stupid washing machine!

I have the exact same problem. The water turns on, then off, repeatedly. It starts to spin, then stops. I had a repairman out and he stated it was "the motor", replaced it for a large fee. The very next day I had the same problem.

We are having the same exact problem that Kathy is experiencing.
A 25 minute cycle is taking 2 hours because every cycle is turning off and on. All lights are displaying as normal. 2 technicians from Whirlpool have been out and tightened a few wires. It works fine for 2 washings and then goes back to the same 2 hours bull ****.
