Question about Kodak EasyShare V1233 Digital Camera

3 Answers

My Kodak V1233, isn't working right. If I turn it on, it will only turn on a second and extend the lense and then shuts off (it's fully charged). I can eventually get to take pictures, if I start by hitting the favorite button, and then the camcorder button and then quickly hitting the the camera button. I can take pictures, but can't see them, I only see a black screen. The camera will not power off this way. If I take the battery out, and then put it back in, and hit the favorite button, I can than hit review and see the pictures I've taken. This is a pain, since I have to reset the date stamp constantly.

Here's what worked for me (eventually):

  1. Tried the cleaining to no avail.
  2. Made sure the charger was Ok - it was
  3. Tried a new battery in camera shop that had been charged for 15 mins (I know it's not long but it shoudl at least open) - didn't work.
  4. Cleared off the memory card (there was a 0 byte JPG on there) but still didn't work. You can't see the internal memory via USB it seems until you can get into the menu so couldn't clear that.
  5. Performed the firmware upgrade as on other posts - http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=11647/11660&product=EKN033563 - still didn't work.
  6. Bought a new battery and charged it - didn't work straight away.
  7. I put the camera back on charge, then removed the battery etc. and had to try opening it several times before it finally started up. As soon as I got into the menu I reformatted both the internal memory and the memory card and now it all seems fine!
I'll be taking a spare camera with me for a while though so I don't miss any magic moments.

Good luck!

i have the same exact problem, what i do is turn it on using the autoscan mode, then it turns on...to turn it off, this one is such a pain, but what i do is press the favorite mode, it turns off right but sometimes the lens is stuck out, so what i do is turn it on using the favorite modethis is to completely turn off the camera), then usually the the lens will close, and automatically off from there..if the fave mode is still on but the lens is already closed, next thing to do is press the on and off mode.....................................this is what works for me...you can try it..so far, it works....

Make sure that you are installing a fresh/ full charge battery
Remove the battery
Clean the metal contacts on the battery using a clean cloth

Pls test with an alt. batt.
If you do not have access to a dif. battery.
Pls. take the batt out of the camera. Insert the charger into the unit from the main socket and turn the camera on. If the camera works you will need to replace the batt. If not you will need to order a No power repair.

Nikon s9300 - When I turn it on, the lense fully extends, but the screen stays black. I have to pop the battery out, then put back in for the lense to retract. Battery is fully charged and even tried

When the battery is fully charged, please put it in again. That means, if it is still in, remove it once again.
Switch it on, and even if you don't see a thing try to make a picture.
Then press the display button several times, to see if anything comes on the screen again.
If the camera does not respond after that, you should go back to the dealer, of contact Nikon.

Please help me. My Kodak Easyshare digital camera switches off!

Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that the cleaning leaves in the camera, and then reinstall the batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

I just got a kodak c913 camera yesterday and everytime i switch it on it stays on for seconds and then switches off, help!

My co-worker brought me a C913 with the same problem. I took out the batteries, took out the SD card, played with the buttons... nothing. A web search was unfruitfull. For fun, when I turned it on, I grabbed and held the lens. The camera turned off but the lense stayed out. I turned on the camera, the lense stayed out and the camera WORKED! I turned it off, the lense docked properly. I turned it back on, it worked... Woohoo! Theory: Either the lense was slow at coming (binding) out or was not coming out far enough. The camera shut itself off because it wasn't fully extended in an alloted period of time. Hope it works for you. Glennster™

Kodak easy share z612 will not turn on to take a picture

When the battery dies, usually the camera will retract the lens if possible. If the battery is so dead the lens can not retract, I would recommend trying to charge or change the battery. Or try to turn the camera on, and then manually shutting it off if you can.
