I would check the condition of the belt first. You can do this by watching the carriage move in the middle and pulling the power cord. With the carriage freed ,move it from side to side.If the carriage jerks then replace the belt.
Hope this helps

Looks like the oil they used on the rails must have left a coating on the rail. because i cleaned them with a solvent and used HP oil problem appears to have gone away

if it doesn't go away try replacing the motor.

SOURCE: printhead

When the plotter goes through its initialization, it stops, the printheads move to the right side and the window displays "switch power off, check printhead path (2)" I've turned the power of an wiped things down, I've unplugged and then restarted but continue to get this message. What do I need to look for or do to get it back on track?

Switch on & observe the carriage behavior for hitting right ot left frames. Clean encoder with dry cloth to avoid ink marks on it & also check for damages.. if found replace it, check..
Enter in to service mode, scroll to carriage test, enter. Check for the result, if its failed, replace it..
Entering in service mode: Power off the printer by using through front panel power switch. Hold the color key switch on the printer using power switch mounted on front panel.Wait till "initializing" appears release the button, you can observe "service test" on panel scroll to carriage test> enter.
I hope you can solve the issue..

Hp designjet 1050c check printhead path (1) but the carriage barely moves?

Either the belt pulley is broken, or installed incorrectly, or the belt was installed backwards.

My problem is after claibration i receive a message POWER OFF AND CHECK PRINTHEAD CLEANER PATH

Something is blocking the printhead cleaner assembly from moving forward and backward.
Turn the plotter off, open the printhead cleaner access cover (RH side) and see if you can move the cleaners to the front of the machine.
If you can move them fairly easily, then try (with the plotter still off) to move the carriage assembly (holds the printheads) to the left of the machine.
Check the condition of the carriage belt for frayed areas or missing belt teeth.
(I suspect a worn out carriage belt is causing the problem)
With the cleaner assembly to the front, and the carriage to the left, turn the plotter back on and see if the error continues.

Printer keeps telling unable to clean. won't print jobs

Some foreign object may be in the printhead path or under where the printhead parks when not in use.

Open the cover and check the printhead path for bits of paper, paperclips, tacks, push pins etc. If path is clear, note the position of the printhead.

If the printhead is at the far left, you may need to gently slide it towards the center. (Do not force it). Look in the area under where the printhead was positioned. Use a lamp or flashlight if necessary, again looking for foreign objects.

Close the cover.

Error message on brother dcp 540cn 'unable to change 30' have swithched it off and checked all cables. No joy It sometimes changes to unable to change 50 help appreciated!

This is almost always associated with debris or foreign objects in the printhead path or under where the printhead "parks."

With the power off, open the cover. Inspect the printhead path for little bits of paper, push pins, paperclips etc. Note the position of the printhead.

If the printhead is at the far left, gently slide it towards the center. Carefully look under where the head was positioned for debris. Use a flashlight if necessary.

Close cover. Plug in the machine. Try it again.

Problem with Printhead Path

Something (not sure what) is obstructing the movement of the carriage assembly. Turn off the power and remove the cleaners. Push the carriage assembly out and pull/push the belt to move the carriage assembly until you find the bind. If you've recently changed the belt or carriage assembly, make sure you properly adjusted the carriage height.
