If the drive is out of warranty then no....seagate will not honor an expired warranty. As far as the swapped hard drive yea you can swap for a larger drive as long as it is the same dimention (2.5/3.5 ect) and connect (SATA/PATA/ATA/IDE) as far as loading windows you are gonna have to get your hands on a usb cdr drive....either that or create an ISO image of your operating system on a sd card. Good luck

Replacement no, it cannot be done if you did not get the 3 year warranty package.

you can still salvage the information in the disc with the use of a recovery tool like the one in the link below

even the demo can get you through

How to recove Seagate external hard drive data?

Probably, the new operating system cannot recognize your Seagate external hard drive. You can connect the Seagate external hard drive to another computer to copy data to another device. If the problem still exists, you might need to perform data recovery. You can free download the data recovery software: http://www.icare-recovery.com/seagate-recovery/seagate-external-cannot-be-recognized.html

Seagate,external, Hard drive,160GB,knocked over,doesnt work

Buy a new drive. The beeps are coming from the hard drive and they say I'm broken. If you need to recover data, and only if you need it like life and death because it will cost a bit, send it to a data recovery company. I would search on line and look for somebody local to you for this if you need it.

As for your old drive, if you like to tinker, you may be able to remove the drive from the case and replace it with a similar sized drive with a matching interface (ide or sata). I personally like to remove the rare earth magnets from bad drives to make refrigerator magnets and toss the aluminum housing into the metal recycling barrel. It also ensure personal data is never coming off those platters.

After data is recovered, it should be moved to another drive to keep safe. The drive that was recovered has to be reformatted and checked for errors before storing more data.
