Question about Canon PowerShot S3 IS Digital Camera

Open Question

My S3 IS was working perfectly until one day it powered on but simply would not snap a photo. And once it's powered on, I can't turn it off. I have to leave it on and it eventually powers down after some time. I've tried new batteries and turning it on several times without any luck. The screen powers on and I can access the menus, but it won't take a picture or zoom. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Powershot A-95 blank screen not taking snap

As guest stated, this sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your cameras warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

SOURCE: I am unable to see what I am taking a picture of.

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

Samsung galaxy S3 phone camera not working..When turn on camera,no other function button on screen works & it says "camera failed"..any help? Many thanks :)

Let me guess.. you are using an external SD card, correct?
And, now you are having this camera failed issue. It's due a corruption with the SD card.

1) Go to Settings>Application Manager>(swipe right to left until you see) ALL>(Scroll down the list to "Camera") Tap on Camera> press "Clear Cache".
2) Power off your phone.
3) Take the back cover off your phone.
4) Remove your SD card
5) Restart the device
6) Wait a couple minutes for the phone to fully load. Then, re-insert the SD card.

The camera issue should be fixed.

7) go to the camera app, in the camera settings change how the camera saves photos to phone storage only (NOT to SD card, this is where the problem occurs). Doing so will help the camera take photos faster. The SD card is too slow for the camera. After taking your photos, you can move them to the SD card to clean up space and back up your photos in case your phone ever crashes or you ever become locked out of your device. I would use the SD card to back up all files not just photos.

Will not pair with my macbook, iphone or samsung s3 the device doesnt even show up in bluetooth to even connect to it. I follow all the steps. I am not pleased.

I was having the same problem until I read the instructions again. When you turn the speaker on press and hold the power button until the ring starts flashing. Once its flashing try pairing your S3 to it again. It came right up once I did this. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Is it possible to recover deleted video from my canon power shot s3 is without buying software?

you can recover deleted files from camera with asoftech data recovery program... Download the program
http://www.asoftech.com/adr/

You have to use a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader. Put the card in the card reader, open the recovery program, then select the drive where files are deleted, then press "Start" and wait for it to do it's magic.

Sounds like your SnapLab's power supply is dead. You will have to send to repair, or order the part and replace yourself (if you think you are qualified to do that yourself...)

When I connect my Garmin Nuvi 200w to my car to charge it does not work. It just receive charge but does not work. If I disconnect it the GPS It work.

Are you using the garmin power cord or are you using an aftermarket cord? Some after market cords have usb plugs that although they plug right in to the power port on the unit, they tell the unit that you are updating the database. The unit displays only a picture of a computer connected to the unit and that's all it will do. Their is a way around this. Simply wait until the unit displays the about photo of the computer attached and then unplug the power cord from the unit. After the screen clears immediately replug in the power chord. This must be done quickly before anything appears on the screen. If you're too slow, simply repeat this step until you manage to replug the unit before anthing appears on the screen. Once plugged in as about the unit will operate normally on the external power source until you either turn it off or unplug it. Simple repeat above when ready to resume use.

Hard Time Turning On

Hi,

For viewing you must turn to the right, it means your switch for record on is defective.
Your Canon repaircenter can fix this for you, if not contact Rotronica in the Netherlands for repair.

I was taking a picture one day and all of a sudden my camera turned off. But when it turned off the camera lense stayed out. Now I charged the battery and it still won't turn on.

For a temporary fix, once the lens is fully extended, turn the power on (the light should flash for a very brief period), and within that period, repetedly smack the top of the lens and it will retract. Ps. It can take more abuse than you may think.
Also, this is simply temporary. Sometimes it will work for a day, and sometimes a month. And even soimetimes it won't work. But it's worth a shot if you have a perfect photo-op.
