Modem router(quest gateway) works on one computer but won't connect to two other computers. was working on two ,and now only the one wired to it.

Place your wireless G router in a wide open and central location. Don't connect the power plug into the router, yet. Make sure your computer is turned off.
1. Step 2
Connect all the devices.

Find the Ethernet cable that connects your PC to the modem. Unplug the Ethernet cable from your PC and insert it into the wireless G router's WAN port. You should have an additional Ethernet cable that came with your router. Take this cable and plug one end into one of the LAN ports on the router. Then connect the other end to your PC's Ethernet port.

2. Step 3
Turn on your modem, router, and PC.

Plug the power plug adapter into the modem. Turn on the modem. It'll take approximately 30 seconds for the modem to boot up. Connect the power plug adapter to the router and the other end into a power strip or outlet. Like the modem, it'll take about 30 seconds for the router to boot. Turn on your PC.

3. Step 4
Verify lights are on for your devices.

Make sure the following lights are on for your router: power, WAN, and LAN light. If you don't see any of them lit, confirm these devices are turned on. Make sure the Ethernet cable connections are installed correctly.

4. Step 5
Install and configure software.

Use the setup wizard application to configure your Belkin wireless G router. Set up features, such as creating your password and setting up your time zone. Continue to follow the setup wizard so you can configure  other settings.

How to tell your net gear router is no longer working correctly It connects to the internet throuigh the modem I am plugged into port # 4 and I have tried port # 1. At any given time I loose connection and...

HI jamesbigble. To see if I understood your problem correctly. You are using a computer thru a router. And the router is connected to a modem. After a while all the lights on the router are lit. And then you have to unplug it and plug it in again and it will work for a while right? Well, if that's the case, that's the router for sure, you need to replace it. If you see something like that happening to the modem, well the same answer for the modem. If any modem, router or switch have all the lights lit, it means some serious problem. Maybe hardware/power or firmware issue. In case you dont want to spend money, I would recommend go to the netgear website and download the latest firmware for your router and try it. I hope this helps. Please dont forget to rate and write positive feedback for our fast-free support today. Thank you :D

Wireless light will lit up only if any wireless computer is connected to Belkin's wireless network.
First, connect to Belkin's wireless network that you can scan.
After you connect, try to go online

My wireless hp says router cannot find host name

Double check your physical connection. It should be this way

Modem > connected to Internet Port of the router
PC > connected to port 1
Laptop > can be wireless

Now you must power cycle your router and modem. Turn off router first then modem. Wait for 30 seconds. Power on modem first, then the router. You must configure the wireless settings on your laptop it doesn't connect automatically.

Link 1 lit up and no more connection to internet

You may have been hit by lightning or power surge which knocked out one or 2 ports. If the WAN port is out you may still be able to use your router as a hub provided your modem can be configured as a router (many newer ones can) . Connect one of your working LAN ports to the modem and others to your computers.

I have no computer or cable and need to set up internet on my PS3

??? A router will NOT replace your modem; the router won't work without the modem. If you're going to give advice, please make sure it is somewhat correct.

Okay. So first you need the telephone cord to go from the phone jack into the DSL port on your modem. Then you need the Ethernet cable that came with your modem (looks like a phone cord but much bigger) to go from the ethernet port in the back of the modem into the wan or internet port on the router. Verify that the DSL and internet lights are on on the modem.

For the rest of the setup, watch this . It will walk you step by step in connecting your PS3 to the wireless internet. Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.

DI 624 Wireless Broadband Router

So- Red - First of all don't rate yet. This will probably take a couple notes. So, let me make sure I've got this straight:
AT&T

Modem>>>>Linksys>>>>DLink( no status or pwr lt)
v v
ptr ptr

Is this crude diagram about right? Are the ptrs wired or wireless?
How many pcs? Wired or wireless? Getting their ip from which router? Linksys model #? Operating systems?

Wireless router not connecting to internet

Unhook all wires except for the power cable. Press and hold the little reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds ( I know, most sites say 5 seconds is enough...)
After releasing the button the router should reboot itself. Sometimes after the reboot you have to press the reset button again for just a second and release it. The wireless should reset itself at this point, but this will also reset all of the router settings. You will have to log into the interface and reset your security and other settings. The user id & password should reset to admin & motorola, unless you have loaded aftermarket firmware.

Set up problem

First make sure you have the blue cable connected from your modem to the wan port on your router. This is the port closest to the power connection. Make sure all of your computers tcp/ip settings are set to obtain ip address automatically. If this still doesn't work unplug your modem and router at the same time for about 60 seconds. Plug in your modem and after all lights come on except the activity light, plug in your router. You should have have the power light, wan light and however many pcs are connected and on lit up. This should solve your problem. If not, add a comment and I'll be glad to come back and help.
