Samson Resolv 65a Speaker - No Power!

I switched my speakers on as normal the other day and only one of the two powered up. I have not been able to get left speaker to work. I tried using the power lead from the right speaker and this did not solve the problem, so there is no issue with the fuse. I have taken the back off the speaker, but can not see any other fuses inside!

Can anyone suggest a way of me getting this speaker back up and running? Or do I need to take it to a specialist?

I had just turned the speakers on. I started music playback which was pretty loud (but not extremely loud) and I immediately lost one of my Resolv 65As. It is totally dead.

Exactly the same problem.I switched on and no light on left speaker, stone cold.I bought these 04/06.Did the cable switch over thing cable and fuse fine.Opening up the back didn't show any fuses. It looks like the power transformers shot, but seeing the design, you should be able to slot another power amp in,and click the cables back together to the speakers.I hope they can supply one! I hate the idea of just throwing them away. Not more land fill.Actually I can't see why they don't do upgrades for monitors.A responsible credit crunch idea.

I purchased a set of Samson 65a Active Studio Monitors about 6 months ago online. Over the past week or two, I have noticed that one of my monitors is not working properly. The sound output would seem to cut in and out intermittently. Today, when I powered on my monitors, the left monitor outputs absolutely no sound. The blue LED light illuminates indicating that the amplifier is receiving current, but the light is dimmer than the right (working) monitor. I have attempted to connect the output going to the working speaker to the other and there is still no sound so I know it is not the wire.

Sounds like some blown components. I'm in process of contacting Samson about it as these have 3 year warranty.

There's a fuse input just underneith the mains input plug.A small screwdriver will open the small latch. You can get new fuses at Maplins.

One of mine cuts out, a slap seems to remedy it for a moment but I don't think this is in the manual.

65a Resolv studio monitors. The left one just blew out -- maybe. The blue LED stays dim, as though the monitor has been sleeping. When I power off the monitor, the speaker gives a loud pop, and the cone...

You are getting DC offset voltage on one of your amplifiers that is the reason the speaker pushes out and you might be hearing a humming noise too. Do not turn on the speakers till you get it fixed or else you would end up burning the speaker voice coil too.The dim blue LED is also an indication of a short circuit in the output stage.
Your left amplifier needs a output chip (IC ) replacement. You will need professional help to do that. Will cost you about 20$ plus service charges.

Hum coming from one speaker

Not good. you may have a blown amplifier. To check this, put a volt meter across the speaker terminals with the amp hooked up and off. Turn the amp on with the volume set to minimum and check for any voltage at the speakers. you should have no DC voltage (less than .1 volt) at the speakers. hope this helps

Hi There the fuse just blew in one of my Samson

Hi there
To answer your question;
If it is not indicated near the fuse holder then look closely at the metal end caps of the fuse.
The value will be written on one of them,
It may look like 2A/250v for 2amps.

Hope this help

Tweeters will not put out sounds, they do not look blown.

You need to go inside and isolate the tweeters. Then with a 1.5volt battery apply the + to + etc for a second. If it pops it's working and the problem is in the crossover. If not it's dead!

My tweeters are blown on my Samson Resolve 65a monitors...anyone know what I should get (and where) to replace 'em?

It might tell you on the back of the tweeter what rating they are. I should do a webserch for Samson spares and see what it comes up with.

Samson 65a monitor speaker

If its not to big find a neostick or similar sintetic glue, piece of medicine bandage and black (if speaker is black) mat spray.First put some glue around the rip wait for 10 min and then put the bandage on it.After that again 10 min of waiting and new layer of glue on the bandage.Let it 24 hours for glue to dry an then respray it.If you can do it from the back side its better and repair is almost invisible.
