On a lot of the Kenmore dryers, if the drum belt breaks the dryer will not start. So check the belt.

My Kenmore Dryer just quit today. I have checked the breakers. They are ok.

Many possibilities. Door switch, start switch, timer, thermal fuse, motor, belt, or improper voltage I think mostly covers it.

Check for continuity of the thermal fuse located in the back next to the cycling thermostat (its white) You also need to make sure your breaker hasn't tripped or partially tripped. Try turning the breaker all the way off then back on. If those things are ok your next step is to check to make sure the belt isn't broken.

My dryer won't turn on (start button?) The timer works though. It quit working in the middle of a cycle and I'm pretty sure the heat was still working, it just stopped working.

Hello,

Sound`s like a broken drum belt. When the belt break`s on most kenmore/whirlpool dryer`s it prevent`s the unit from starting via a ``kill switch`` located under or next to the belt tensioner/idler pulley.

Since you`ve indicated the timer appear`s to advance/work, it is not the thermal fuse/cut-out.

The other possible fault is in the start button, but that is not very common.

I`d look at the belt. That`s what I`d check first. Hope that help`s.

Good luck and thank`s for visiting fixya.

Kenmore dryer keeps on going and going

The timer is bad. It is located behind the knobs and can be replaced really easily. The price for a new timer is about 35 dollars. If this helped please rate
