Yes, more than likely this is you're problem. If the impeller is damaged, it will not pump the water from this machine. If you have or can get hold of a service manual for this unit, and you are mechanically inclined, this is something that you can replace on your own and can save you lots of cash.Small items can get through the tub and into the pump breaking off parts of the impeller or just wearing down the plastic blades.Sounds to me like you had this figured out already.
Sincerely, shastalaker7

Washing machine making funny noise and will not drain.

If the washer won't drain water the drain pump might be defective. It's also common for a small sock or other article of clothing to get caught in the drain pump preventing the impeller from turning, or in the drain hose. Check both for an obstruction before replacing the pump.

Problem with LG WM1814CW Front Load Washer. It has stopped with water inside and it says OE. I have checked the back pipe, but with water inside, can i open filter

The OE error is telling you the water hasn't drained out in ten minutes. To fix I would first start with cleaning the filter on the pump. If that doesn't fix i would recommend replacing the pump. I would also have towels and a mop in hand because when you unscrew the filter top the water that is inside the tub will come out. You should try leaning washer back before removing filter to prevent the mess.If you have to replace the pump they run about 50 or 60 bucks. I hope this helps.

Water is all over the floor from the washing machine. What could be the problem

water pump, hose or tub.. depends when you noticed water. After it was filled? during draining or filling? Also a clogged drain will cause backwash. Holes in tub from rust will leak out water, water pump cracked can leak water or hoses to drain or to washer not sealed or cracked. Overfill from a faulty fill valve can also do that, but then you'd see lots of water all obver on that one.

My LG Tromm WM1814CW is not draining. I cleaned out the drain filter and checked to make sure the drain hose is not kinked and still - there is no water draining from the machine except when I pull out the...

Check inside the filter housing with a flashlite for debris that got around the filter. If it is clean, you have a bad pump and it needs to be replaced.

OE error message washer fills with water then just makes a grinding noise.

It is a long drain error. The washer is not fully drained after 10 minutes of draining. Remove the cabinet cover and check the following:

  1. Drain pump filter The filter maybe clogged with foreign objects, clean it. If the filter is damaged, foreign objects may get into the pump impeller and clog it. Keys, coins and pins in the impeller maybe causing the noise.
  2. Drain hose The hose maybe frozen, kinked, twisted or crushed. Repair or replace if necessary.
  3. Connector The connector may disconnected or disassembled. Reassemble or repair if necessary.
  4. Drain pump coil
Check pump coil resistance between the terminals using an ohmmeter. Resistance should be between 10-20 ohms. If the resistance is too high or too low, replace the drain pump.
  5. Voltage Check the voltage between the connector in step 3 during spin. The voltage should be 120Vac, else replace the main board assembly.
Regarding the grinding noise, run the machine while the cabinet cover is open and check or observe where is the noise coming from. If it is coming from the motor:
  1. Check if the bolts are loosened. Re-tighten it loose.
  2. Replace the motor stator and rotor assembly if still noisy.

I am having the same problem as you stated with you WM1814CW

Replacing the drain pump is not that hard. But you will need to confirm that is the problem.  Remove the filter drain plug to make sure there is no large build up of debris blocking the filter.
