SOURCE: My renoir says memory full.
It might be worth checking the "Primary Storage Setting" under Memory Manager and set it to external - it might be that the internal memory is full. Indeed - it might be that the phone only uses internal memory for it's run-time uses, so you might need to make sure that there is some free space on the internal memory, full stop.
You can always move stuff to the external drive in the media album to make space if you don't want to delete things - beware though: If you're replacing the background picture on your main screen - this must live on the internal memory.

This may or may not work, but this is what I heard.
Something went wrong when downloading the Firmware onto the Rival, it is a factory defect. Fortunately there is a fix (as far as I know).
Doing this will loose ALL MEMORY including contacts list and inbox.
1 Press Menu
2 Select Settings
3 Select Phone
4 Select Security
5 Enter Unlock Code & Press Done (Usually the last 4 digits of your phone number)
6 Scroll to Restore Phone and press OK
7 Confirm by selecting Yes
8 When prompted Enter 4 digit unlock code and press Done
PS do me a favor, let me know how this works out for you??

Delete some unnecessary files in your phone memory like images and videos. Go to your phone gallery and delete some of those. And if you want to use the memory card as phone message storage then go to Messaging - Option - Settings - Other and then Memory in Use, select your memory card.
But if your phone is infected with a virus then you need to format your phone. One sign of infection is your phone keep sending a message randomly from your contacts without your consent.
Use these code and enter it to format your phone:
*#7370# and then the default code is 12345
Take note: Make sure you back-up your contacts or any other important inside your phone.
Hope I make it clear and does makes sense.

Testimonial: "it does not work. My phone asks for a lock code. 12345 is not the default key. It is locked. "
