Question about Dometic RM2652 Refrigerator

2 Answers

We have a 3 way Dometic fridge in our caravan. Have lived in the van for last 12 months ( grey nomads) have had no probs until trip home this week from Yulara to Victoria. Pulled up at night and freezer was starting to defrost & fridge not real cold. ( 2 door fridge). For two days fridge did not want to work. Got freezer part to work on gas. Now today the whole things seems to be back working on 240 volt. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is???? BTW we think it is something to do with the hot weather on the trip. Any comments would be appreciated.

Temperature does play a big part in the efficiency of the fridge. The condenser at the back of the fridge needs cool air flow to allow gas vapour to be converted back into a liquid.again.

Ours has done the same thing except it seems to quit when we go to a colder place and works fine when we are in a warmer place. Worked great in Texas with 100 degree temperatures. Did not work in Grand Canyon area with temperatures in the 60's & low 70's.

If the RV was level when it did not function. First you will want to open the rear vent of the fridge on the RV and check for a yellow residue above the burner area. If you do see that, then you will require a replacement cooling unit because the pipe ruptured. It is common in all new RV fridges that the cooling units lets go within 3 to 7 years. RM4236 tripping site electrics

Paul;
Are you tripping the shore power pedestal? If so did you unplug the fridge and try it. The park pedestal breaker should be at least 30 amp and I can not believe the fridge would trip the site breaker before it tripped the breaker in your caravan. Are you sure it is the fridge? Your fridge is an old eletrolux dometic and I can not find the manual in my files. You may call Dometic and get a manual but That will not help you much. I will be more than glad to resolve your problem but I need more info.
The Dometic# is 800 366 3842. Prompt to tech dept.
