Question about Air Tools & Compressors

1 Answer

Need a users manual for a craftsman in-line 15 gauge finish nailer model # 181770. I am having trouble finding the finishing nails for this model #. I looked on the craftsman website and it shows 1 1/2 in. finish nails, but my model # is not one listed. I just not sure what to buy! Thanks

Go to www.manualnguide.com i looked and they have the guide there you can download for free. Any nails will work as long as you get 15 gauge nails only thing that matters is whether or not they are straight or angled

Hope this helps

Why is my DeWalt D51275 15 gauge angled finish nailer bending nails and jamming?

A few things to check - some may seem overly obvious but humor me:
1) Check your nails - make sure they are the correct angle and gauge
2) Check to make sure there is not a piece of a broken nail in the nose
3) Check the driver blade & insure it is not bent or chipped
4) Make sure the nail carrier spring is pushing nails forward and isn't getting hung up

Harbor freight nailguns

Any nail or staple with the same specs can be used. For finish nails it would be the gauge (15, 16, and 18 being the most popular sizes) and angle (if angled and not straight sticks of nails), for staples it would be wire gauge and crown width, for nails it would be the nail diameter (.090, .099, .131 are examples), the nail angle in degrees (NOT counting a roofing nailer, some other coil nailers us slightly angled nails such as 15 degrees) and this is very important with a stick nailer as there are a few different ones out there, and of course max length your tool will shoot of any given fastener. Most boxes of nails/staples will have the specs you need printed on them somewhere and the owners manual will usually contain the same info.

I have a craftsman 16 gauge finish nailer, model 918441. it is not advancing the nails. not certain how to adjust. cannot find the manual. is the manual available on line?

Assuming that the nails are correct for gun (16g nails measure .055) and feeder is actually applying pressure to nails (feel spring pressure as you close clip), most likely problem is driver is not returning to top of cylinder. This is caused by low pressure to gun, bent driver, lower bumper missing pieces/cracked, worn oring on piston or lack of lubrication. Remove cylinder and examine condition of lower bumper, replace if broken/cracked; check outer cylinder for check valve in place (usually small band or oring covering series of ventholes) ; replace piston oring as needed, make sure driver not bent. Parts available at sears web site. Good luck
