Question about Ricoh Aficio 1022 All-In-One Laser Printer

1 Answer

Our company is in Oregon and the nights/mornings are getting colder. Our Ricoh will not work in the morning due to it getting cold. We have been instructed to punch in numbers and codes - it then warms up and works. Is this right?

Thank you for responding to my e-mail. Every morning to get our printer going for the day this is what we have to punch in:

    Error Code: SC542
Press: Clear Modes 1,0,7 Stop (hold this one 3-5 sec)
    Press: Copy SP
    Select: SP Direct (at top)
    Press: 5,8,1,0,# to select 5810
    Press: Execute
Open front door, power down w/switch, wait a couple of seconds, power up, close door and test.

These are the codes and numbers that we need to punch in every morning to get the printer to work:

Error Code: don't have the code at the moment
Press: Clear Modes, 1,0,7, Stop (hold this one 3-5 sec)
    Press: Copy SP
    Select: SP Direct (at top)
    Pres: 5,8,1,0,# to select 5810
    Press: Execute
Open front door, power down w/switch, wait a couple of seconds, power up, close doors test.

Does this sound right to you?

What kind of numbers and codes? Sounds like they are having you go into the Service Mode and reset an error code? Generally this will be displayed as SC### style code. If you were to furnish this, I would be able to tell you what the problem is. You should not have to be entering anything to get the machine to work, no matter the temperature, unless you are storing the machine outside, even then, this is a sign of something else wrong.

Sorry for the delay in response, never got notification of your first reply. Out of curiosity, what would the temperature be (in the mornings) where this copier is located? It's not out in a garage or shop area is it?

What you are doing is clearing out a fusing error. This is, of course, a warm-up error code as listed below:

Fusing temperature warm-up error.
The fusing temperature does not reach the standby temperature within 20 seconds after the main switch is turned on.
Possible Causes:
• Fusing thermistor defective or out of position
• Fusing lamp open
• Fusing thermostat open
• Power supply board defective
• Poor connection of the fusing unit

I'm going to guess that your issue would probably be due to toner build-up one or both of the thermistors in the fusing unit.

The fusing unit has a maintenance schedule of 120,000 prints/copies. In other words, every 120K prints (i.e. 120K, 240K, 360K, etc.) This is approximate, sometimes you can get more or less from the parts.

I'd check the counter on your machine (Press the 'user tools' button in the upper left of control panel, then the onscreen button 'Counter' in lower right of the screen), and see if it is time for these parts to be replaced.

If it's not time, you could have someone who is mechanically inclined try to check and/or clean the thermistors. When cleaning, they would need to be VERY careful as they are fairly delicate, and have a protecting coating over then to keep them from scratching the surface of the hot roller. If this coating is worn off at all, they would need to be replaced.

To clean, GENTLY scrape the hardened toner off the surface of the thermistor, a fingernail is probably best. I can't stress enough the need to be careful with them! If something happens to it, the machine will not function until the part is replaced...

Below is an image of the procedure, the fuser is behind the right-side access door, at the top. Be warned, the fuser is EXTREMELY hot, and should be cooled off before attempting. Average operating temperature of the fuser is 340F...

Apparently the image insertion portion of the site is pretty worthless. Here is a link to the full-size image, I'll host it for a while, before I remove the image...

I have a 2002 dodge stratus. I bought it in the

It sounds like either the battery is bad or the terminals are corroded and not allowing for a good connection which would cause a click. There also could corroded body ground which should T off the battery connection and bold directly to the body of the car. I would clean up terminals and check ground connections. Good Luck

Garage remotes and keypad don't work in the morning!

Something in the receiver portion of the logic board has become sensitive to cold. This is not uncommon in electronics. The sensors are working as they should and the wall control is hardwired and doesn't use the receiver. A new logic board is the repair. The lights are normally a simple repair. Unplug the unit and pull out on the center contact of the light sockets.

Refrgerator side gets to cold

Possible bad thermister or temp sensor. Part # wr55x10025. Your unit is a dual evaporator system. So fresh food side is independent from freezer. That would be the most likely cause. It retails for $14.00 from ge parts online. Good luck.
