Question about RCA P52937 52" Rear Projection Television

Greeting:

We have had our RCA 52' HDTV for 4 years now never had any trouble with it until just this past month. We thought it was our cable box so they have come out and replaced it twice. Nothing! The TV still flicks one time then really quick it seems to dim then turns off. Then we have to wait for over 25 minutes for the us to power back on. Is this something that is still under warranty or do we need to replace a fuse or something else?

I have a 52" RCA
sounds like the power supply capacitors CP150, CP120 and CP114 need replacement. You can get the RCA repair kit by that same name from www.tvrepairworld.com which has the caps and the CD with repair instructions.

NOT SURE IF RCA OR WARRANTY IS REPLACING (MINE WAS PURCHASED FROM BESTBUY WITH BEST BUY WARRANTY). IF ANYONE HAS SPOKEN TO ANYONE ABOUT A REPLACEMENT PLEASE RESPOND. I THINK IF THERE ARE SOME UNITS BEING REPLACED WITH NEW ONES WE ARE MORE THAN LIKELY GETTING THE SAME DEFECTIVE UNITS (WHICH WILL MORE THAN LIKELY WORK UNTIL OUT OF WARRANTY). I had the same problem which got fixed today. It was a loose connection to the power supply unit that required some soldering by a technician and cost me 56$. My TV works after 2 months.

I have the same issue. Bought the TV 1/08 and it started showing those exact symptoms about 3-4 months ago. It generally progresses and gets worse. You can try to fix it as it's some kind of TAB connector issue, or keep calling Sony so that the 52" owners of the XBR4 and 5 series get the extended warranty just like the 46" owners received for the same series. If enough of us keep calling, they'll have to act.

Picture coming on then goes out black
When the set goes off, does it die completly or do you still have audio through the TV speakers? If the whole set goes dead, it could be a High Voltage shutdown problem or something more simple like a bad solder connection in the power supply. You will need a Tech to look at it to determine the best course of action. In the past, RCA has had huge problems with solder connections that they made good after the warranty period ended, but overall, after the company was bought by a French outfit, it was never the same, and I've been repairing them since 1976. Their reliability did allow me to send two kids to college, and I do own a trade-in 60" RCA projection TV for myself that I plan to keep for about another year before going HDTV myself.

Solder bad connections...main board with hv transformer on it..
CL035 capacitor and any others...use magnifier........T.
