How do I get the mouse to mouse the mouse cursor

the battery in the mouse makes the red light come on, not the operating system.
Look in Device manager, find the mouse, uninstall the drivers, scan for new devices, re-install the drivers.
Otherwise look for new drivers on manufacturers site.

Heello dougandjanis,

first of all, make sure your USB port is working, you can try that by plugging another USB device in.

Then to check that the mouse USB is working, once you have connected it, go to:
start >(righ-click)Mycomputer>select manage>select device manager> (look in the (?) tab. see if your mouse is listed there.

Good luck, and let me know what happend,

Did you UN-installed the USB mouse driver in the device manager?

If yes :) update the driver using the device manager

If no now using PS2 :) update driver using device manager, and select the ps2 mouse driver.

Would like advise on how to install a wireless mouse on a laptop

Wireless mice come with a USB dongle and a wireless mouse. Install batteries in the mouse and plug in the USB dongle into 1 of your USB ports on your laptop while in Windows. Windows will detect the mouse and automatically install the software needed to communicate with the mouse. If Windows doesn't install this device automatically, try installing the drivers included on the driver CD.

Please make sure that after installing the ram all the wires were properly installed to their respective places.

Usually the wireless adapter is mounted close to ram slots, so while installing the ram you might have jumped the wire.

Hope this will help.

to know if your windows keyboard and mouse controller is working try to use first a cabled keyboard and mouse, if you find it working try this steps.

first, try to remove the wireless usb device which your keyboard and mouse is connecting to, try to use another usb port from your computer.

second, your wireless device comes with a cd installer, try to reinstall the program of your wireless device

and then try again

No mice work on my computer!I installed a wireless mouse, and now no mice work, the wireless, and normal keyboard does. How do I fix the mouse socket?

if it is PS2 then you need to reboot your computer in order for the computer to detect the PS2 device ( the PS2 device needs to be plugged in before rebooting )

If USB then try a different USB port and also check bios settings to ensure all usb keyboard and usb mice settings are all enabled.

You could go into device manager and delete usb hub etc and let windows re detect and re install otherwise go to

Wireless mouse will not connect

-> make sure the USB driver is detected properly by the windows or other OS
(it should say "USB device connected" once you plug the transmitter in the usb slot of CPU)
-> if you have problem in this step like having "unrecognised device etc.. " make sure you have SP2 in your system
->Make sure the mouse has batteries that have life.
-> Make sure the mouse and traansmitter are at a reasonable distance.. if more than some 10 feet, most of the wireless mouse dont work
