How do i unlock my labtop

Hi,

In the first place Dell will not give you a password to unlock computer unless you prove to them you bought the computer ...your address..and your date of purchase.

Try to reset the CMOS.

disconnect the computer from the mains supply, open the casing, remove the CMOS battery.

reset the CMOS by using the jumper, replace the jumper to its original position, put back the battery and start the system.
If It is NOT possible to reset a Bios password just by removing the cmos battery you will need professional assistance.
unlock the Dell password with Service tag termination in http://www.laptoprebirth.com

Thank you

Battery will not charge. The battery is new, verified on another laptop and it works fine (takes a charge). Unit works fine when connected directly to AC. The laptop is a Dell inspiron E1505. How do I...

This isn't easily done. Have you recently replaced your power adapter for any reason. I've found that some laptop batteries won't charge if the charger is just slightly different from the original one, even if it's another Dell power adapter. If you haven't replaced the power adapter recently then it may be that your female power jack isn't properly seated or soldered into the motherboard. To reseat or resolder the jack with require you do completely dismantle your laptop. If you're not confident it doing this, then don't try it yourself. Also, resoldering the jack isn't as easy as it would seem either. Before doing any dismantling, remover your battery, turn on your computer and gently wriggle the adapter around in the female jack of the computer. Does your computer shut off on you? If so, then you definitely have power jack issues. See madhattercomputers.com

Dell Inspiron E1505 won't recognize new battery

It won't charge or work correctly if it's not the correct one and of the right voltage etc.I don't know how the battery even went in if it's not the Dell specified battery. If it went in and looked to fit maybe the battery itself is bad but its hard to say.

DELL LAPTOP INSPIRON 6400 MY LAPTOP BATTERY IS SHOWING STATUS ( UNKNOWN ) ON WINDOWS & ON BIOS IT SAYSS BATTERY NOT INSTALLED

Here are my recommendations for this issue:

1. Reseat the battery.
2. Remove All External Components
3. Check the battery connectors on the battery and the system. Examine the connector on the battery and the system. Make sure that there is no physical damage and that it is clear of debris.
4. Remove All External Components
5. Try a known-good battery in the system, if available.

Cmos jumper or switch dell e1505

Hi there.
As far as i know there is no CMOS jumper in the dell E1505, but what you can do is remove the motherboard battery for an hour to hopefully reset the bios.
Take the main battery out of the laptop as well as the AC power supply so the laptop is receiving no power at all. Push the lid back as far as it will go and remove the hinge cover like this >>>>

Now you have to lift the keyboard, there are 2 screws at the top of the keyboard so unscrew them and gently lift the keyboard up like this >>>>>>

You will see in the illustration the motherboard battery, just take it out for an hour and then put it back in, please be careful with the keyboard as there is a delicate ribbon cable, if you have to, remove the keyboard from the motherboard.
To release the keyboard cable from the keyboard connector on the motherboard, rotate the plastic bar on the keyboard connector toward the front of the computer.

Please post back with the results and more help if needed, good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Does not power up

Battery may be bad on the laptop. Try removing the battery and powering on the computer with only the AC power.

(Usually you can flip them over and there's a locking "slide" that you have to hold over while you remove the battery. )

If it still refuses to power it on, try to note what it says on the screen (use a digital camera to snap a few photos if necessary) and post back. It seems likely that it's the battery, however.

Hope that helps.
