when I go to the my computer tab, and click on the device, it only has a folder for music, but when I look at the device it clearly has a section for audiobooks. It has a folder titled Albums, one titled Music, one titled playlist, (with a few song I added in it) and about 13 other folders also titled playlist, but there is nothing in them. What happened to my Audiobook folder?

  • emmy_jo14 Nov 12, 2009

ok, so, on my compyter I added the folder, and put the audio book in there, yet when I unplugged and restarted my mp3 player, it didnt transfer anything into the audiobook file. Is there something wrong with my device or do I just not have the right program to add audio books?

First download the driver from your player's manufacture's site. It will be under download tab or support tab.
Download and install driver, then restart pc

Then turn on device, then plug into pc, then go to my computer, then you should see your device there. Double-click on the device folder. Now you can see and will have access to all folders.
You can leave this page up, then go to the page & file that your book is on. click, hold, and then drag this file over to the audio book folder and release the button, it will transfer the book to the mp3 player audio book file.
You can also use windows media player 11 and sync your mp3 player to your windows media player and create a playlist or library and transfer them onto mp3 player as well

You can right click an add an Audio Book folder and add it there.

Did you drag the file and drop it into the file on the player itself. If so, then there is a program missing. You may be able to download one from manufacture's site. Or do a software update.

The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

I have an AA file that I downloaded from audible.com, it's a book. When I try to sync it to the Sony Walkman from Windows Media Play, I get an error. The error says "Windows Media Player cannot sync...

The "AA" file type is not supported in the NWZ MP3 players. However, you are still able to place audiobooks onto your player if you convert the file to one of the supported file audio formats: MP3. WMA, AAC-LC, and PCM. Remember that there are several iterations of MP3, such as variable bit rate and frequency range and the player does not play some of them.

What I do is that I pull the file into Audacity and convert it there. Another option is that if you can burn the audiobook onto a CD, you can then rip to WMP and then sync it to your player. That is how I get my language audiobooks onto my player. The last option, which I have never tried, is to get it into ITunes, then sync it to your player that way. ITunes will automatically convert the file before syncing it onto the player.

Hope that helps.

Audio book download

The RCA Opal supports Audible audiobook downloads almost exclusively. You can transfer audiobooks that are in mp3 or wma format, but they will not play like regular audiobooks - they will play as one continuous file. I would use Windows Media Player to transfer the audiobooks to the player, but you can drag and drop using Windows Explorer also.

When I sync an audio book, while the disks are in order in my library the mp3 order is different. Will it play in order?

Depends on the model # and manufacturer of your mp3 player. Most mp3 players will not play audiobooks in order, even if they deceptively say on their cover that they support audiobooks. When they do support full functionality for audiobooks, it is generally only from the Audbile music service. There are some players that even have an Audible folder in their structure, and yet they still don't support Audible or audiobooks, b/c the licensing fell through at the last minute.
Without a model#, I cannot tell you for sure, however.

Audiobook setting

Instead of dragging the audiobooks to the "music" folder, drag them to the "audible" folder - this player only gives full functionality for audiobooks if you are using the Audible audiobook svc. Otherwise it will play the audiobook as one long mp3 file swithout proper chapter breaks, etc.

Sansa Clip Audiobook Question

Once I downloaded the newest firmware the audiobooks folder started showing up in the windows file explorer. So now I don't have to worry about using media player or anything else. I just plug in my sansa clip, open windows file explorer and drag the folders (1 for each disk) onto my player (into the audiobooks folder).

Here's the link for the download. If it doesn't come up you might want to reformat your sansa clip.
