let me start from the beginning. TV shut off and blinked 3 times. SD Tech had me to change convergence chips and any resistor that looked bad. I changed i/c chips and one resistor and TV came on and stayed on for about 5 minutes and at convergence screen lines started jumping and TV went off. I then changed all remaining resistors and when I turned TV on it again shut down but only blinked one time. SD Tech had me to desoder i/c chips and check to see if TV would turn on with remote on table. It turned on and stayed on. So he told me to install two more convergence chips. I did this and TV again shuts off with chips sodered. When chips are not sodered it will stay on. Before I installed the second set of chips, I started fron the front of the first chip and sodered one pin at a time and checked to see if TV would turn on, It did for the first three pins, and when I sodered the fourth pin back, It again shut off. jaybirdwv

There is still a component problem in the t.v. send it back to the tech. if the convergence chips have failed again, the power supply circuit should be checked.

sorry, i replied but i guess i wasn't logged in or something. I would not try the method you are using: i.e. soldering one pin in at a time. This will not give you an accurate trouble shooting method. You have to solder the whole chip in and take a DVM or scope and probe the circuit and check the voltages around the chip. Start with the supply voltage to the chip and make sure it is correct.

check to see if there are some fuses for those chips, they may be well hidden. i haven't worked on your t.v. mine was a sony and there were two fuses which had blown also. sounds like yours maybe ok since the t.v. did turn back on, but it maybe worth whle to take a look. do you have a schematic for the t.v.?

Sure, two,two is short protection: One of the two pico fuses that protects the convergence circuit is blown----you will need to replace both chips (Need a exact model number to tell which) and the pico fuse that is blown.

First I know this set well, did you pull out the board or the light box to replace the chips?

Convergence problems are usually easy to see...

see attached photos and tell me as much as possible.

How do I adjust the convergane on my RCA p52921 52 in projection tv I just replaced the convergance chip the stk730-130 and it still looks 3d the place I got the chip said it would need to be adjusted

IF THE convergence is not better after replacing the chip something else on that power board is bad; be aware of the 10 or so diodes on that board---two are much larger than the others--those two supply to voltage to the convergence circuit.

Red distorted color near top of screen not having much luck with trying to converge the lines on the tv set form. already tried factory reset

Reset will not cure a convergence problem.

this model (ws-65711) uses a single convergence chip located on the middle circuit board (see photo).

If convergence is skewed and will not adjust in customer menu the chip needs to be replaced.

Good news: I have start to finish, step by step instructions for this repair in this set. They tell you everything you will need and exactly how to do the repair.

No two sets with convergence problems will look exactly the same but I will also attach a few photos of this kind of trouble.

If the photos or what I have told you told you something you did not know and you want the instructions (free) rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

My Panasonic cinema vision tv looks like it just turned into 3d it has a couple colors and show double.

Problem is called convergence; see attached photos.

This set uses 2 of the STK-392-110 convergence chips, both will have to be replaced and total parts cost on EBAY will be under 25 dollars.

The good news is I have start to finish step by step instructions for this repair in this set. They tell you everything you will need and exactly how to do it.

They are based on my experience doing this repair in hundreds of sets just like yours.

I will enclose also a photo of what the chips look like.

If you want the instructions let me know and we will find a way to get them to you for free.

If this information told you something you did not know, rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Mitsubishi tv model wt-42311, error code 2-2. what can i do?

2,2 IS short protection and 95% chance it means one of the two pico fuses that protect the convergence IC chips are bad.

This model uses two of the chips: STK-392-110 and you would have to pull the light box out to replace them safely (total parts cost will be under 30 dollars).

It involves getting at the chips and the fuses and replacing them: how much skill do you have?

SD Tech you answered my panasonic tv with 3

OK, here is what I suggest you do----remove the light box from the set and unsolder all pins on both convergence chips----see if the set will turn on and light up---you can turn the set on with the remote--its receiver is at the top of the three black lens.

My jvc 56" proj. tv pops several times when i turn it on but the screen stays blank

Ok, I suspect one of the two convergence chips is shorted, this is usually the most common reason the light (blue?) just blinks.

I can tell you in a easy way how to prove this without replacing any part--

What kind of skill do you have?

This entails removing the front grill under the screen and disconnecting the Convergence board behind the inspection plate.

I am here to help--
