Question about Dell Inspiron 9200 Notebook

2 Answers

Hopefully a graphics problem.

There is a two inch wide multicolored band down the middle of my screen, and another one inch band (to the right) that's just lighter than the rest of the screen. The screen problems have been going on for a couple of months and for a while the band was blue, then black and now its this multicolored pin striped thing. Do you have any idea if this is fixable? I bought the computer in 2003/2004 so its not worth me putiing a lot of money into.

Hello,I have the same problem!!!! I also have multi-colored vertical "stripes" in my display...DELL told me that they can't fix it but as I see that more people suffer from this problem i think this is a weak spot of the DELL inspiron...If DELL can't fix the problem than this is the last laptop I bought from them :-(

If anyone can help please e-mail me at timwel@hotmail.com

    Thanks in advance

My Inspiron 9200 got the same problem. It's quite obvious that the screen has been damaged as it works fine when the notebook is connected to a different display.

well I have a two inch pin striped line doen the screen more off to the left and amother smaller one all the way to the right but the smaller one poped up over night I fear the lines will spread like a cancer across the screen.

WEll I guess I have the same problem. My screen is completely covered with multicolored vertical lines. It has been gone like this for like a year. I don't know what the problem is but I guess it's the LCD screen like you said. Isn't there no other solutions????

Dell is offering to replace the LCD on the Inspiron 9200 within 3 yrs of purchase under recall for free. You must talk to a supervisor because most of the "others" have no clue. Hope this helps. I replace mine, my wifes and my sisters under this program.

Panasonic TC-P42S2 .. Transparent 2 inch wide vertical discoloration on panasonic 42 inch plasma, very left of the screen.

Fixed mine, myself! Black 3 inch vertical band (stripe) appeared after a cros country move on our PC-T50G10. Occasionally we would see white band with multicolored pixel width stripes. Took the risk of taking off the back to see if I could see anything. Found places on sides and bottoms where plastic like 2" flat cables could be seen. Guesstimated where the band was and found that I could flip down a black cover on one end of the cable. Tried to pull it, gently. Mistake. Realized it wouldn't one out like computer hard drive cables, so I took out the screws holding the plate on the other end (it's only an inch long). That allowed me remove the cable. Took it out, cleared away dust, put t back and closed the black over. It worked! Put the screws back in, back on and... we are happy (although I do have four extra screws!). Just be gentle.

I got multiple thin colors on the middle of the screen

My 3-year old 52-inch Toshiba flat panel TV (Model # 52RV53U, Serial # AM409000295) developed a display issue (purchased Aug. 2008, manufactured July 2008). Vertical multicolored lines appeared on the screen just left of center. The band of thin vertical bars is 5.5 inches wide. The lines are about 1/16-inch wide. They are stationary, always exactly in same place. They over-ride any other picture on the screen (no transparency). They are there all time even with no video inputs to the TV after the unit is turned on. See picture #1. The TV works well in every other respect, but, obviously, it is annoying to watch the picture with the color band blocking about 1/6 of the picture.

I already swapped out the TCON board with no improvement and replugged the TCON board cables with no improvement.

Most likely it is the flat panel tab bond failure (panel made by Samsung). Further updates will be on my Facebook page.

I have a 2inch wide band down middle of screen on

1) Have you installed new drivers or software or drivers? If so, remove them and restart the computer.
2) Try applying pressure with your fingers on top of the screen. If the band dissapears or dimishes, you may have a broken screen and it will need to be replaced.
