Question about Samsung CLX 3160fn All-In-One Printer

Invalid Imaging Unit and Toners

All of the sudden got this Invalid Imaging Unit, Invalid Black Toner, Invalid Cyan Toner, etc. Samsung sent me a new imaging unit - same problem. Samsung sent a technician to replace the main circuit board - same problem. Any suggestiions?

    obviously the toners are Country coded - I bought on CLX-3160FN in South Africa (and the same one in Switzerland) and the toner I brought from Switzerland (which works in the Swiss one) gives a "wrong toner" message on the South African one. When I fit a Toner bught in South Africa it works...

    The package, and Code is everything the same except the last 3 letters on the type code. It says CLP-K300A/ELS on the Swiss toner and CLP-K300A/SEE on the SouthAfrican Toner....

    Can't beleive it but that must be the problem ....

    I have the same problem, i bought this samsung CLX-3160FN printer from italy, which i installedi in my office in NiGERIA. after 3months i started getting message of invalid imaging unit. Ihave bought another sets of toner and still keep getting the same message invalid imaging unit, cyan toner, etc. having read the suggested solution, i have noticed that the code on the toner and the imaging units were different. please let me know must the toner and the imaging unit have the same codes? if so, why did the printer come with a toners having different Serial number. please let us have an urgent answer as los of job hours and value is huge.or does my imaging toner have a problem?     I've had a CLP-550N for a couple of years. It has suddenly started giving me the invalid cyan toner message. I jiggled the Cyan toner and it went away. Then it came back after I replace Magenta. Now I can't get it to go away. I bought a brand new cyan cartridge - didn't help. Don't waste your money on a new cartridge if you have this problem.

Sorry about my last post. I didn't realize that it would be placed unter solutions. BUT I did get a resolution from Samsung. They passed me to the advanced team and they suggested I use a special code they gave me to reset all the machine. As I said before the machine was giving me an error that all the toners and the imaging unit were invalid. Samsung said to try this and if it didn't work they would send me a new (refurb) unit. They said to press in sequence <menu><#><1><9><3><start (b&w)> then when the unit cycles it will ask to imput the country, in my case I entered the US. The machine will then reset itself and all the cartridges and imaging unit should be reset to work. IT WORKED!! The machine said to wait while it re-installs the toners. When it did the red warning light turned off and the printer is working great. Hope this helps.

My Samsung CLX3160FN was working flawlessly till a surge hit it. The network connection stopped working. But everything else worked fine, it copied beautifully, faxed great, scanned like a champ, just did not do it over the network any more. Samsung was real fast about sending me a new main board and a technician to my house. Now nothing works. It is giving a red warning and says all the toners and the imaging unit are invalid. The technician couldn't figure out what was wrong. He said he would order me a new printer. I just hope I get a new one and not a refurbished one. Mine worked great and I hate to get a problem unit from someone else. The technician said he believes that the new card has a bios problem in it and was not properly programned for my printer.

What solution for samsung clx3175 asking intall image unit

Dear ,
Kindly refer the following link,
This imaging unit needs to be replaced after it complete its life (6000 color pages/ 24000 mono images)
To replace first you need to takeout the toners and waste toner container ( a transparent/black container on the left hand side)
after that you may take out the imaging unit.
after that put the new imaging unit.

put the waste toner container and put back the toners.

If problem persists please provide your feedback.

My Samsung Color laser printer indicates all four color toners as 'invalid' despite changing them. It also indicates the imaging unit is invalid. It was bought new and functioned without any problems for...

When you changed the toner did you change the chip for them? you need a special chip for each and evry one of them. I had that problem with my CLX-2160 and i fixed it this way.

Poor quality black output

There is a defect in the Imaging Unit of these printers....if you replace the imaging unit, the problem of the faded black prints go away. If you have less than 7000 prints, you can call Samsung for a warrantied replacement. The Imaging Unit is supposed to last at least 20,000 prints.

Pages full of toner / toner streaking

First off, this is a comment from a random person who may or may not know ALOT about these printers and toner/printer design in general. All toners are not designed to the same specification. Toner is a combination of plastic "pigment" and iron like shavings to make it magentically attracted to the electrical charges within the unit. Different toners conform to different grades and mainly size of the particles within the blend. The manufacturer doesnt only recommend that you use their toner to make them money, yes of course it makes money, but its because when the unit is designed it is designed to use a certain grade of toner, trust me if you put the non-branded toner vs the branded toner under a microscope you would see quite a difference. Often the non-branded toner is much larger in particle size (obviousely because its cheaper to make at this spec). This causes a variety of issues from excess toner not being cleaned off of developer rollers, IDT rollers, or clogging of toner dispenser tubes in the unit and the micro filters contained at the toner dispenser assy and developer assys. Also as for the issue not changing when switching to dell branded toner - the dispenser tubes within this unit contain up to 500-1000 pages worth of toner, making no change in toner you make immediately visible. Also depending on the damage caused by the previous toner, it may not be able to be fixed until all the components in between the toner and final delivery (drum cart) are replaced. In this case more than likely the toner dispenser assy, all developer assy's, and drum cartridge need to be replaced, and than be sure to stick with factory branded toner :)

Black Toner Problem

You just might have a faulty black toner cartridge think back did the problem arise when you installed the new black cartridge. Also is the toner a original if not change for a original.
