Question about SanDisk Sansa c250 (2 GB) MP3 Player (SDMX7-2048)

1 Answer

My c250 turns on, but not in the way I would like it.

When I plugged my SanDisk sansa c250 into a Mac for charging, it went to the connection screen and was normal. When I unplugged it, it went to the normal welcome screen (the one with a white background and a red stripe with the word 'SanDisk' in white lettering and the freaky black dog thing) and won't continue to the menu. It will turn off if I hold down the power switch for about 5 seconds (it won't say 'Goodbye', though), and when I turn it back on the welcome screen just pops up and stays there again. In addition to this problem, no computer that I plug it into will recognize that the device exists since this started happening. Please help me out!

Try a hard RESET by holding the POWER and the MENU for about 15 to 20 seconds. That may reset the player back to the factory settings.

I had a similar problem. My Sansa c250 would charge, when plugged into the computer. It would read that it was writing but the computer did not recognized that the Sansa c250 was connected. I switched to a different USB port and got the same results. I then realized that the two ports I was using were 1.0 port and idmedeatly when inserted in the 2.0 port it began charging and the computer recongized the Sansa c250. I know this won't solve every charging problem one may have. Changing the battery would be easier in some cases. Especially if they were sold like the AA or AAA.

Drivers for sansa c250

You can't plug the same mp3 player into a MAC and a PC - one erases the formatting of the other. Run the Sansa Recovery Tool for the c200 series - it is available from the Sandisk website. Also, here is a link to the full user manual:

Sansa c200 series – Computer/OS Not Recognizing
Connect the device to the PC in MSC Mode
View/c200: Turn on then press and hold the rewind button while plugging to the PC
If that fails, unplug the Sansa from the computer. Uninstall all the Sansa software in the add/remove programs section of Control Panel. Reinstall the clean version of the software from Sandisk’s website – make sure you get the files for the c200 series. Then replug the Sansa and try again. The root of the problem is that Sansa has one set of drivers and Windows has another. If you plug the mp3 player into the computer before installing the Sansa drivers, the Windows drivers will trump the Sansa’s.
Here is a helpful link from Sandisk on the problem with extra information on Vista operating systems:

That's a pretty weird problem. The only suggestion I can give you is to check to make sure the music you put on was 1) in mp3 or wav format and 2) if this is music you have purchased, to ensure you have the rights properly set to play the music
