I HAVE A REFRIGERATOR SIDE BY SIDE AND THE ICE MAKER HAD A SERIES OF THING THAT HAPPENED.
1. FIRST THE FLAP WOULD FREEZE SHUT AND WOULD NOT DESPENSE ICE.
2. I ALSO WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE ARM FOR THE ICE SHUT OFF WOULD NOT SHUT OFF ICE IN THE UP POSITION.
3. THEN ICE BEGAN FORMING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FREEZER SECTION AND THE ICE MAKER STOPPED PRODUCING ICE. IT'S STRANGE BUT I THOUGHT I SHOUT OFF THE SUPPLY BUT ICE STILL FORMS AND NOW THERE IS AN ICEBERG AT THE BOTTOM OF THR FREEZER SECTION.

Re: NO ICE (ATLEAST NOT WHERE IT SHOULD BE)
Try to defrost the unit, after defrosting restart the unit and monitor. If ice formation still exist then unit a qualified technician. May be your unit has leak and under charge or need to be reprocess.

Just because you get water from the dispenser does not mean you should also get ice made in the ice maker. Fact is there are two side to the water control valve. One for the ice maker and the other for the water dispenser. Is there ice remaining inside the ice maker slots? If not then pour water into the tray until full and if after the water freezes it drops the ice into the ice bin this will indicate a defective=> WR57X10032 Water Inlet ValveIf nothing happens and the ice maker tray are full of ice this will indicate a defective=> WR30X10093 Ice Maker AssemblyThe ice maker is cannot be rebuilt on this model. I am here if you have questions, Thank You, John T Appliance 911
Maybe the "spring" system of the dispenser lever is faulty, try open it and closing with your hand and see if it will stay close on its own.
But yes you are right, it freezes because warmer air is entering though the dispenser
Sounds like the optics are bad part # 4389102 this model(if we have the right model#)has two optics boards one receiver one emitter on either side of the door opening which shoot a beam from one to the other through the opening in each side of the bin,as long as nothing blocks that beam and the freezer is cold enough to chill the thermostat to temp in the icemaker, then it should be dumping ice.
It sounds like the flap in the door for the ice despenser is missing or is sticking open. The room temperature will lower the temp in the ice bucket enough to partially melt that ice, OR cause a LOT of condensation that may freeze or re-freeze.
Is the ice maker turned on? The on/off switch is located on the top right side of the freezer compartment. The manual says that there is a sensor beam that passes from one freezer wall to the other to shut off ice making when the bin is full. Check to make sure nothing Is blocking that signal beam and that the bin is correctly installed.
If you can look up and see the flap is loose or sloppy, you need one of these two kits. Kit # 8201649 is the chute door, door bracket, spring, damper pot.
Kit # 8201756 contains all the above plus a metal bracket designed to replace the housing bracket, the door pivot pin and a metal brace.
two things may have happened, first the o-ring washer on the pipe tap may have shrunk and restricting the flow of water, second the filter for the machine may be plugged up and need changing. good luck and if yoiu still need assistance feell free to ask againd
Hello , that is exactly what is happening this is caused by 1 of 2 things.
1- the module/control on the front of your ice maker is sticking during its cycle and over timing the fill stage.
2-your inlet valve located in lower rear at water line connection is not sealing causing water to seep through line to ice tray and overfill.
Both are common issues and the most cost efficient way to repair this is to order the ice maker kit that contains both the ice maker and the valve so you can guarantee the fix.
You can purchase on line with your model number for around $100 Calling a service company will cost at least $150 changing only one of these parts or about $200+ for both.
If you have any questions please ask and let me know how it goes.
look at the circular flap that covers the outlet of the ice, see that it seals correctly as it closes. if there is a damage on the flap or it is not sealing tightly then frost will accumulate on the door because fresh air are coming in the door flap. if it is damage, replace the door flap. if it is stucking up, loosen up the mechanism.
