Its quite possibly the crank angle sensor as they do this when they heat up,the car wont start, till it cools down, you can get the resistance checked on it to see if its ok,but you will need someone with experience to do it but its not a hard job

Hi. My Nissan NP200 (2013 MODEL)was running perfectly until after it went in for its 60 000 service. Thereafter, if I drive for more than about 50km, it loses power and then cuts out. After the engine...

Sounds as if an electrical component is failing as it gets hot. This is common failure for coil or ignition module and can be diagnosed by checking to see if plugs are still getting spark when it fails. Crank/cam sensor can do this too, but not as common.

Why does my 2003 pontiac sunfire lose all power while driving

That can be the symptom of a bad Ignition Control Module, or also a bad crank position sensor. The ICM can be taken off and tested for free at any parts store. The crank sensor circuit can be tested on the car with a multi-meter. Also small motors (like a fuel pump motor) that are starting to fail can sometimes work until they get hot and then stop working until they cool down again.

Next time the car shuts down and won't restart, check for spark on a spark plug wire with the engine cranking over. If you have no spark, suspect the ignition control module or the crank position sensor. If you still have spark, but won't start, check if the fuel pump is putting gas up to the engine.

No power electric problem

No, not a relay. The ignition switch is too central to the electrical system. It sends power out to most circuits on the vehicle-those that are designated "hot in accessory, run, start" or some that are only "hot in run or start". Being central, it requires a direct battery source, a "hot at all times" source. Anytime the battery is hooked up, the yellow wire to the ignition switch is a hot wire (actually 2 yellow wires-they splice off before entering the switch or before entering the electrical connector for the switch). The source is Fusible Link M on the starter relay, one of many Fusible Links there, and tied in with the positive battery cable connection. So also, the alternator link is there, so is the headlight switch, the hazard and brake lights Fusible Link, and some others that do supply relays (fuel pump, eec relay, etc.). But Fuse Link M is dedicated to only the ignition switch. If you have no power at the connection to the switch, look at fuse link M. It should have some identifying legend or mark.
Where you saw the sparks, was it at the switch itself or the electrical connector to it? Either way you will have to check. If at the switch, It could be a bad switch, and may have also blew out the fusible link. If at the connector, check if it damaged the connector and is losing contact. Post back with what you find. Good luck.

We have a Subaru Legacy GT, Twin Turbo 93, the car cut out and will not start, no fault codes, replaced spark plugs, fuel filter, checked the fuel pump, replaced air flow meter, engine temperature sensor,...

sounds like your timing may be off, or have a crank shaft postion sensor failing, when it cuts are you losing spark completely? do you have a fuel pressue gauge? whats the pressure? also you could try running it with the map sensor unplugged and see if the condition improves

I have a 1991/92 Subaru Brumby Ute and hope you can help as nobody seems to be able to fix the problem. It runs perfectly until it gets up normal temperature, if it's switched off and you go to restart it,...

You probably need to check the compression it sounds like the rings on your pistons are bad. I'm not sure about where you live, but my local auto parts store offers a free tool loaning program. You usually can borrow a compression checker from them, if it's not already loaned out.

1995 subaru impreza loses power sporadically, on occassion

the owner of the car should do to check the electrical system of the car.the owner of the car should be able to locate and check ignition system.Prepare the tools and equipment to be use in checking the ignition system.so that when the ignition system is checked it will function properly.Locate the ignition system ,the ignition switch ,the ignition coil ,the distributor assembly, the spark plug .checked corroded switch ,check ignition coil, check distributor assembly.the contact point gap, condenser.Check the high tension wires and terminals. check wires and connection ,check spark plug gap.observe all safety rules. and don't forget the battery,if the battery is low in electricity then you have to charge it. But if corroded then you have to clean it, but if worn out or malfunctioning then the battery should be replace. And all of these said parts of ignition system if there are worn out parts then replace them if corroded then clean them.If the owner cant do the job then it is advise that the owner should go to the car shop mechanic then the mechanic do the job done.

98 Buick Regal -engine quits

ok its one of two things you need to check when it cuts off if you have spark or fuel if you lose fuel pressure replace pump it gets hot and makes noise like its running but its not pumping fuel and if you lose spark you need to replace ignition control module has a hair line crack in it and when gets hot the crack expands and loses contact and wala no spark
