My PS3 will not show the game I am playing on my TV? I can see my different accounts and settings, but when I proceed to play a game. The visuals disappear?!?

Try holding down the power button till it cuts off then hold it down again till it turns on and beeps 3 times. 3rd beep let go and it will turn off and reset to manufacturer settings set for any tv.....

My ps3 won't play any games and the game disk won't show up on the game menu. It will play DVD's. I don't know what has happened

There are 2 different laser for the ps3's blue ray drive. Part #'s
Kem-400A and Kem-410ACA. Cleaning your laser may work, but in the end you'll probably need to purchase a new laser.

When I turn my ps3 on it just shows the background

Hi, it sounds like your hard drive isn't booting up properly. Try taking it out and putting it in a different PS3. If it does the same thing then you know your HD is shot and you need a new one. Please note that you will be asked to format your HD when you put it in a different PS3 or try to put it back in yours, so be prepared to lose all your data.

Menu will not show up

Yes you can!
TRY THIS cmfin and trey!
Shut the system off in the back then un-plug and re-plug all cords.
Turn the power on in the back.
The ps3 should have a red light on in the front.
Push and HOLD the power button in front!
It will go through a red light to green beep at you then go back to red.
This should HARD reset it.
If you have ever changed tvs or played on a different tv the ps3 will sync itself to that tv.
SO a regular tv is different then my hdtv so it would need to be reset to play on a different tv!
I hope it helps!

Japanese Ps3 not playing American games

It's because your trying to play american games on a japanese system. See the japanese system is different because of not only how much Power it needs to function (I'd be wary about that btw) as well that a Japanese PS3 can only play Japanese PS3 games. American games wont work for it.
