I did`nt know these machines were made so long ago, but it must be worth a lot more than a 2009. Stephen.

SOURCE: Cub Cadet 1610 Drive Belt Diagram

Go to Cub Cadet. com and click parts. Type your model number 1610. You will see parts diagram. Click that. It will show a long list of parts to click on. Choose drive and it will show you a diagram of all the pulleys and how the belt looks. Hope this helps. I had the same problem.

SOURCE: cub cadet 1610 rans the battery down went mowing.

Hello bigdave1138:

From your Description it Sounds like the Stator/Charging Coils are Bad or the Voltage Regulator (if Applicable) is Bad.
For Testing the Electrical (Charging) System on Mowers you can Use this Site Addy; http://faqs.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/faqs.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=3438&p_created=1101706364&p_sid=4fQ1f8Xi&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=3443&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NTEmcF9wcm9kcz0mcF9jYXRzPTAmcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0mcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1Wb2x0YWdlIGFuZCBTdGF0b3IgQ2hlY2s*&p_li=&p_topview=1 and Use the Link for AC Volts/DC Amps Meter Setting Chart. This is for Briggs Engines and Works Well for Kohler and Other Engine OEMs.
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

SOURCE: Just purchased a cub cadet

I am guessing this machine was purchased used. If so take the number off your machine and go to your local Cub Cadet dealer. They should be able to give you the information you need ,plus other info reference, parts, service, etc. GOOD LUCK.

My Cub Cadet 1610 runs fine on level but sputters and cuts out on hills or leaning to the right, any ideas on a solution? I have changed plugs, adjusted carb and changed filters.

The fuel in your carburetor bowl....fuel is moving away from the main jet due too the angle or the fuel in your gas tank is dropping below the fuel line when on an extreme slope. Check by parking on the angle and see if it sputters or stops. If it does, your fuel is below a pickup tube or fuel feed line. There is a possibility there is a safety switch on the rider that may be affecting operation, also.
