My color convergence is out of focus. WHen I do an automatic focus. I get a "FOCUS ERROR" afterit goes through the process. During the AutoFocus, the RED scan line is in an ARC instead og a straight line.
What could be wrong?
when i hit the focus button it go through the process and it just comes up error and red line is always out ofline.

Very common problems for DLP tvs, will get worst as times go by.Tv probally have a problems known as a convergence problems,it is dead.Tv have colors lines R,G,B unlevel on the pictures?Crooked pictures have mis colors alignments?Yes.There is no way manually to do an adjustment to fixed for this.Try push the tv remote button that said Magic Focus button. If the tv have data processing never completely done and have a error message and stop.Ur tv 100% have a dead tv convergence board, the tv convergence board must have it parts to be replaced like 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all of it resistors too.Than tv will be able to run the tv remote Magic Focus again to have a 100% data processing with no error message,tv to fixed this problems. The shop will cost u like $300-350 for parts and labors.
Ur tv now, totally have dead parts,on the tv convergence board. That, why ur flash foucus or manual covergence alignment R,G,B colors line will not matches up.The convergence board parts 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors, must be replaced to solved convergence problems. The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
manual convergence should fix the problem if it does not the set most likely either has a bulb burnt out or a bulbs power / focus needs to be adjusted by taking off the panel and finding a 6 screw control panel
should look like that 3 screws in a row on top of another three screws each of thees control the power and focus of each color this is a somewhat delicate process and is a huge pain on larger tvs that you cannot completely see the picture or color while you are directly under in front of it so I had my gf come in the room and sit across to let me know which color was doing what if you dont have someone you will need to check after each adjustment
now the diagnostic as i said each screw controls a colors power and focus the focus is used if you see an outline of a color around pictures if everyone looks like a dead jedi with a blue aura around them the blue focus needs to be adjusted and so on for each color if you skies or blue screens seem feint your blue power probably needs to be turned up and so on for each color
if through the course of this you can see the bulbs and notice one is out your probably looking at dealing with the color issue until the time you can purchase a new tv as the cost of the bulb and the technician needed to install it as they are wired to a circuit board and requires technical knowledge and tools
I don't know your model, therefore I will tell you genericaly what the problem may be.
There are many things that can cause this type of fault. The response of the video amplifier stages would have to be checked right up through to the output that drives the projection. it is also possible that there is a fault with the colour demodulator. If the set uses projection tubes it is possible that the tubes are weak, or there is dirt in the optics. Colour demodulation problems can also cause the colours to not be correct. Many models using tubes have an optical transparent cooling fluid in front of the tubes. This fluid may have to be changed.
Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.

Hi!. You need to create tables using the Oxyjen Installion Utlities. Make sure that your Calibration side is positioned properly and the four foucus types are calibrated. Once the tables are created, save them to the appropriate tables folder.
Your HItachi has an automatic color convergence (color beam alignment) feature called "Magic Focus" which can be accessed from the set-up menu. When selected, you will be prompted to push the front panel "Magic Focus" button... do so only one time and do not hold the button in more than three seconds to enter this mode. The process takes about 90 seconds to complete, but a second push of the button will stop the process with no change.
If the convergence is still bad after the auto-correction process, then the guns are misaligned beyond its corrective capabilities, and would require manual convergence.
