I need to factory reset my d-link dir 615 due to password problems to use it wirelessly as for some reason my password seems to have changed it self.

Reset the router to factory default IP & password with switch / pin hole on back. Use the factory Router IP address & pw to log in to the router using a Browser (Safari, FireFox, Opera, IE, etc) Change settings to whatever you want.
Note: we don't use WEP any more because it's not secure. Use WAP2.

Do you have the Internet connected to the Internet port in the back of the DLINK? You will have to configure the DLINK for internet access. Open a web browser to your DLINK and check on the configuration under internet-setup. Select the type of internet connection you have i.e. DHCP, PPPoE, Static, etc. Once that is set up, you should have access to the internet like before.

Here's the web site. Download the pdf file(product manual) which is a zip file. When finished downloading open it and scroll to page 62. It tells you to push the reset button for 10 seconds and let it reboot for about 30 seconds. This resets it to factory settings. You have to set it all up again after this...anyways, here's the link(copy and paste)

hold the reset button on the back of the router for 10 seconds and the router should reset back to factory settings and you have to set it up again. Here's the manual though. bottom of page 62. instruction if you forgot password. But it works the same.

Simply reset the router to factory default by pressing reset button on back side of router. Then you can configure it with new setting.

Step 1 With the unit on, place a paper clip into the hole on the back on the unit labeled Reset.



Step 2 Hold paper clip down for 10 seconds and release.

Note: Do not repower unit during this procedure.

Step 3 The unit will reboot on its own. Once the WLAN light stops blinking, the unit is reset.

Resetting the router does not reset the firmware to an earlier version. It will change all settings back to factory defaults.

Note: The factory defaults username is admin, and there is no password.

To reset the D-Link back to the default settings, Press and hold the RESET button and then power up the D-Link. Hold the RESET button for 5 secs until the LEDs flash.
Now you can enter the default login & password.

You can reset the D;Link router back to the factory defaults -
Power up the router and press and hold the RESET buttom at the back on the router for approx. 5 secs. until the LEDs flash.
The default login = admin
The default password = blank (just press Enter)

To reset the DLink back to the factory defaults - power up the DLink and press and hold the RESET button until the LEDs flash.
You can then reconfigure the wireless router with new settings.
