It appears that the keystrokes are not hitting hard enough, since the print is too light & some of the ink is left on the ribbon for each letter. We have changed the ribbon and cleaned the print wheel but it does not improve the problem.
Should we buy a new printwheel to see if this solves the problem?

I, too am experiencing light, almost flaky letters from my IBM Wheelwriter 5. None of the ladies in my office want to get rid of it as it's the easiest to use. We've tried to replace it, but ended up bringing back the IBM Wheelwriter 5. If we could only fix the problem, we'd all be happy. We've replaced the cartridge, ribbon, had it serviced and nothing seems to help. Hopefullly someone has an answer. Help!

My typewriter is a Swintec 7040 and am experiencing the same type of problem even though the impression control is set to the max. A repair person came in yesterday but was not able to resolve the problem. I have tried changing ribbons, but it didn't help.
