Try turning the Palm Treo off using a Soft Reset.

  1. Save your work and close all active programs and games.
  2. End wireless connectivity by holding down the red "End" button for 5 seconds.Take off the battery door cover.
  3. Remove the battery from the Treo.
  4. Press and hold down the red "End" button for five seconds to drain the memory.
  5. Insert the battery back into the device and replace the battery door.
  6. Wait for the Palm Powered logo screen to appear. The preferences screen will appear and prompt you to enter the time and date.
If you encounter data loss after a soft reset there is a serious hardware malfunction and your device must be serviced.

It will not turn on. It is 3 yrs old.

If it is not turning on at all then more then likely the battery is dead. Try plugging it into the charger and leaving it for over night. Then try turning it on. If that doesn't work you may need a new battery. I would not recommend doing this yourself s it involves some soldering. I had a friend of mine change my battery and it didn't quite work right after that. I am also including a link for the free chat feature that palm has. I have used it several times and have always had very good results. Best wishes.

At the bottom of this page it says Palm Chat. Click on the chat now and follow the online prompts.

Palm Pilot has reset itself and lost all data no

From a physics perspective, there may be a residual charge on some of the digital bits that could be read with sensitive instruments and manually reconstructed after hours or days of manipulation, but as a practical matter, your data is probably gone. Unless your data is worth tens of thousands of dollars or more, it's probably not economical to recover it, if it's even possible.

My palm pilot m515 wont turn on or charge

try turning it on while its on the charger .. if that works then you might need a new battery .. if it doesnt then do a "reset" ... unscrew the top off the stylus and use it to push the reset button on the back (top center) ... if that doesnt get it going then you can do a hard reset but that will erase all your information (like telephone numbers and such) ... you do a hard reset by holding down the on/off button while pushing the reset .. if it works on the charger but quits when on battery then you need a new battery ..

Touch screen on Palm Z22 does not respond

The Data on your Z22 is rock-solid safe, but unlike the answer that states to do a RESET- DO NOT ! The touch screen problem has nothing to do with resetting, it is a failure of the soft plastic top layer of the touch screen. There is a tiny, remote possibility that the logic circuits are out of sync and the touchscreen really is mixed up in a software state, and a SOFT RESET may reset the touch screen, but this is almost unheard of ( but does happen).
I have an entire page on the Z22 and how to maintain, repair and interface it. It is at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

I would suggest trying a few tricks listed on my web page, and see if you can get the screen to work again. It is IMPERATIVE to get a hard plastic cover over the screen to keep it working!

Please read over the information on the Z22 page.

good luck

M515 Palm Pilot

here is your manual in PDF form
www.palm.com/us/support/handbooks/m500series_ug.pdf

if the unit was new then you would charge it for about 10 hours .. but since its not likely new then it doesnt hurt anything to just leave it on charge ... you can even operate the palm while its charging .. over night charge should be enough to get pretty close to full ... the palm internally automatically turns off the charge when the battery is full .. so you dont have to worry about over charging .. if the unit wont come on then you can do a "reset" (back at top)

My treo 650"s just plain freaking out

I have a TREO650 and ran into a somewhat similar issue before. What you did by removing the battery was called a soft reset. There are 4 types of resets; soft, warm, hard and zero-out (personally I would not try this one just because it is difficult to do and it may make things worse in some rare instances).

Here is a website that describes the 4 types of reset and how to do them. http://mytreo.net/treofaq/Treo650Resetting

If the pictures to you aren't as important as getting your TREO working, I would suggest doing a HARD RESET.

As a suggestion for next time. Take your pictures and then transfer them to a 1GB SD card (the TREO 650 cannot accept any size larger than 1GB) and remove the SD card. Use a SD card reader in your PC to extract the pictures.

Good luck.
