Re: M604

Hello FrankH2,

time to change your remote. You also get one from Altec Lansing, but you have to RMS if you register your product, or go on and check the way to change your remote. Other than this, is go to repair shop near you , and see if the Tech personel, can check the remote, for fried line or capacitor.

Remote will not play and pause

Try changing out the batteries with brand new ones. If that doesn't work then the remote is defective.

M602 Speaker Problem,.. Popping Sound

This worked for me on my M604: Try inserting/removing a headphone plug into the jack several times to see if that clears the problem.

The "popping" sound is very similar to the sound that the unit makes when inserting headphones into the 'headphone' jack on the back of the unit.

The jack has a contact switch that triggers a relay inside the unit. If that contact switch is 'on the verge' of making contact, slight temperature changes may cause deform closer to it's contact target. The subsequent capacitance build-up and discharge across the gap could explain the cycle of popping noises after the unit warms up.

Battery wont charge

I would say swap out the battery, since that's the least expensive thing you can do. Then if that doesn't work download and install this device utility

Remote Controller

Hold the remote up yo a video camera and you will see code flashing from the LED in the remote. If it is dark, the remote is faulty. A common fault is for the ceramic resonator(orange pack) either dry joints(it is a resonator) fractured wires, or just fail with no reason, thus rendering the clock for the main proc. not working. Another common fault is the LED being dry jointed. or the LED faulty. All of these easy to fix. Sometimes the power supply may fail to the detector on the front panel of the amp, The detectors sometimes go. all these things to be checked, but check the remote for infrared light with a camera first. Good Luck, a rating of "FixYa" for these technical tips would help my profile, Cheers
