This is a common problem with the Lite-on LVW range of DVD recorders due to changes in the construction of more recent DVD R media. It can be solved with a relatively simple firmware upgrade.

You'll need to have a blank CD and a CD/DVD writer in the PC you use to download the file.

Follow the instructions to upgrade your firmware, this should then allow you to write to DVD's once again.

You rated that suggestion 'inappropriate' after the guy took the time to try to help you out for free. You know, Frankie has met some real ungrateful S.O.B.s in his time (and fixed a few too) but most of even them didn't tend to crap on people who were trying to help them... for free! (and these are the types that would k-ll you as soon as look at you.

Good luck to you getting any help, on here or anywhere. With your attitude you really don't deserve any.

Sounds like a media compatibility issue. If you are using high speed DVD+R discs you may wish to try a lower speed +R or even try -R. I had a similar problem with a DVD writer a while back and although the documentation for the unit said it supported +R I couldn't get it to read or write to anything but DVD-R discs.

Sony vx-515 dvd tray won't open

Mine was a Sony TS-P532 DVD in a Model GX315 player. A BLU-RAY disk got inserted and won't eject. Remove the player cover and on top of the drive is a 3 X 3 (approx) metal plate with a plastic wheel visible in it. Un clip the two sides of the metal plate and it will pivot up and the disk can be removed.

The user's manual is available from Lite-On as a .zip file. http://us.liteonit.com/us/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=153 Select Audio/Video and then your model number in the two drop down menus; then click Search.

The direct link is http://www.liteonit.com/DOWNLOADS/DC/LVW-5005X/user_manual/en_us/LVW-5005X_US_English.zip .

You will need to unzip the file to read the document. With Windows, right click on the file after downloading and select "Extract All".

I hope this helps.

I have a DVD Recorder, Lite-On LVW-5005X. I have been having sporadic problems with the disc tray not opening for some time. But usually after repeated attempts, it would open. I have recorded and...

You need to replace the disc tray belt,it streches with age.It is called a square belt, size 1.9.To open try tapping on TOP of cabinet with your knuckles just above the disc tray door. While you are doing this press the Open button.Once again this must be done at the same time, the door will open 90% of the time. When you get it open you will see the little black square belt, this can be removed and replaced with a twizzers.Make sure belt is in the track if not it will jam and door won't close.

Liteon DVD recorder LVW-5045 has disc inside and won't open tray

Use your knuckles to knock on top of cabinet just above disc tray door while at the same time pressing open button,99% of the time disc tray will open. The problem you have is caused by a worn out belt drive or the tray is out of alignment. The disc tray belts only cost $2,when tray is open you can see the minature belt that controls door to the right.Use twizzers to remove and replace.Belt size 1.9

LVW-5005X DVD Recorder setup tv tuner

You have the wrong firmware,or cd is corrupted. These Liteon recorders have had some issues with the timers. The 5005xa can actually be transformed into the Ilo R04.Look on internet the Wizard has free firmware for your unit, look for iLO R04 which is almost identical to your unit.
If the remote is broke they are easy to replace ,if the recorder is a 5005xa the remote is a clone to ones used in the iLO RO4,used ones can be bought on Ebay for $10 to $20.If it is 5005XSA use the Liteon Rm 51 remote. The Gateway AR 230 recorder and some of the Akai remotes are clones to the Liteon5005XSA remotes.
