Lots of black mold visible in door gasket. There's probably a lot more out of sight. Maytag basically blows us off, because we bought out machine after the date included in the big lawsuit settlement... early 2005. They won't even talk about a possible solution. Sounds like they are simply willing to let customers go away rather than work with them to solve the problem.

This is a typical problem with most front load washers and is due to moisture inside the washer being unable to dry out because of the air tight rubber gasket. The only consistent soultion I've seen for this problem is to leave the washer door ajar in between washes which will allow the moisture to air-dry as the conditions for mould growth are thus prevented.
