    I have the same issue. I contacted LG through their websites live chat feature under customer service and they arranged for a tech to come out and repair the fridge at their expenses. They were very helpful.

    As a short term fix I used small CFL bulbs that produce little heat.

The connetors on the switch are loose or the switch is going out it snaps out and is an easy fix go to appliancepros.com and look at their site for the price for it.

LG cover this under warranty since it is a design flaw and a class action suit was filed against them. It happened to my 5yr old fridge and they are repairing it at their expense.

I;m assuming that when you say short.... that the light is intermittent or sometimes flashing. Buy a can of Electronics cleaner and spray it into the switch located in the doorway. If that doesn't work then remove the lens from the interior light and spray all the contacts there. Hope this helps.

Interior lights stay on while driving.
Check that all the grounds to the door buttons to the interior lights are connected to the buttons and not just flopping around and touching the metal at times. Then be sure to check the body ground from the battery to the body, not just the engine. These problems are normally caused by a faulty and intermittent ground wire connection that is hard to find. I always check my grounds first.

The interior light is intermittent. sometimes it is on when the door opens and sometimes it is off when the door opens. Reguardless of the situation, the light asssembly is ALWAYS extremely hot.
Sometime the switches get gunked up from spills or whatever try and find the little toggle switch to clean it.

My 1992 corvette Interior light stays on
I am not sure about the 1992 since they have newer dashboard than my 86.

Anyway, I got that same intermittent issue on mine, sometime the battery was drawn in the morning sometime not, very frustrating, until i noticed that the interior light sometime was not going out as it should after 30 seconds when leaving the car in the evening.

I eventually found the timer module after removing the upper dash pad, on the passenger side. The module was just partially unplugged. Put it back in and never got problem anymore (was 6 years ago).

Interior lights stay on
The door switches for these supply ground contact to turn the lights on so this would indicate that either one of the switches has failed (come apart) or somewhere along the line one of these leads is rubbed through or pinched and providing random contact to chassis ground.
