Question about Lexmark X5470 All-In-One InkJet Printer

No response I can't get the connection with the computer. The fax and copier work, but not coming from the compter. Thank you, Becky

I was able to fix my problem without the help of Lexmark. I disabled my firewall thinking that would fix it but it didn't. I also have Kaspersky anti-virus software that had been running. I stopped the anti-virus s/w and now I am able to print. It's a little bit inconvenient to keep turning it on and off but until Kaspersky has a solution I'll deal with it.

So I got this new printer, a nice Lexmark all-in-one, fax, scan, copy, photos, prints, all the bells & whistles, right? I install it step by step just like it tells me to do. Everything shows fine, all appears hunky dory. Go to control panel, it says ready, big happy checkmark, it's set as default printer, it's online. Just one problem, it won't print. I get this nasty message that says there's no communication between the computer and printer. I tried 3 different USB cables. I unplugged, restarted, rebooted, tried every USB port on my puter, no go. Same thing. I checked windows firewall, the Lexmark stuff is all checked as exceptions, meaning they are being allowed through. I deleted the other 2 printers from the system. I uninstalled the new printer and reinstalled it - 5 times. I just have the feeling it's something in where the USB cable is hooked up. I have 4 USB ports in the back of the puter. I have 3 in front. The puter shows the printer designated to the "virtual printer USB port". All the troubleshooters tell me to check the USB connections and cables, then restart. No go. Same thing.
I've been at it for 5 hours now. I know it's something simple and stupid, but that's me - simple and stupid. Any ideas?

First you need to connect the printer cable from the printer to your computer and then install the printer driver.

I'm not sure what type of machine it is but I think it's a Brother. It has a separate fax line and isn't connected to a computer or network or anything like that. The machine will receive faxes fine but...

Are you working with a line over VOIP like Vonage? If so faxes can be hard to send and receive because of line condition.
Also, if you have DSL make sure that you have the proper line conditioners in place so you have good line condition.
If those aren't a problem then contact your phone provider to discuss the issue.

My compter file says that my Cannon imageclass 2300 is offline what is the prolem?

Go to the CONTROL PANEL on the computer, select PRINTER?FAX icon, then click on the name of the printer you want to associate with your printing needs and make sure it is connected. This will allow the print jobs to go..... Please let me know if there is any thing else you might need, of if it is still offline, we can go further! Guy :) Pleasure to help out.....

Fax machines are ANALOG devices and will not work reliably on a DIGITAL phone line.

Fax cord lost

I think that that is a regular phone line type cable/wire. Check with your owners manual to be sure. If you have misplaced your owners manual then follow this link to download it. Looks to be a regular USB cable to connect printer to computer. If still unable to determine if this is the correct cable call Canon customer service at 1-800-385-2155

Not receving fax

Is your fax set on AUTO REC mode? It sounds like it got tripped into MANUAL MODE for some reason.

Hi! I not computer smart nor am I an expert, but try this. I just got my machine.

put the phone jack into the wall to your printer. Put the paper on top to feeder the paper will come out at the very top

next, dial the number using area code, then press either ok or start

Installing a new ink cartridge

After working with the copier for over an hour, my husbband discovered quite by accident where the ink cartridge was located. It is inside on the left hand side, above the try that holds paper, and is next to impossible to see. It pulls out to the middle of the tray, and the cartridge can then be changed. Receive fax on the fax system as well as your PC

If you change the number of rings on the fax machine to more than on your PC, your PC should receive the fax first and accomplish your goal.
