Trying to set the offset on Datamax Prodigy Printer

I've got a prodigy plus printer which is one of several we have in the company. The printer is not advancing far enough and results in a ripped label. When I check the settings, I can see an offset set at -20.

What I can't understand is how to change this setting. All I have to work with is dip switches and no LCD or display or any kind.

Can you please advise what I'm missing to complete this task?

Add the OFFSET command (Oxxxx) command to beginning of the data. A value of around 0700 usually works.

The prodigy+ does not have any other facility for setting the tear-off position, nor is the effect of the O command persistent.

I don't know where you're seeing that offset value since the printer cannot report it. If it's in your printer driver, then try adjusting the value in the driver itself.

How can i send an ascii file to a network shared Datamax Prodigy Plus printer? It is not printing via send file, windows driver send command to printer works. Thanks for any help!

copy file.txt lpt1 is the command to copy the txt file to the printer, but it must be correctly formatted for the Datamax. I don't know Datamax's programming language, but at first glance that file looks like ZPL to me. If it is ZPL the Datamax can't print it.

If the cable works on the Zebra it should work on the Datamax. It must be a RS232 serial null modem cable.Check the serial port settings and make sure the printer setting match the PC serial port settings. Baud Rate=________? Data Bits=________? Parity=_______?Stop Bits=________? Handshaking=____________?

The typical settings are Baud 9600,8,n,1 Xon/Xoff.

mmoore503: Maybe have to update firmware, and to download you must update the "boot loader" also. Download files in ftp://ftp.datamax-oneil.com/Printer%20Firmware/

Do you have Zebra emulation firmware installed? If not, your printer will not understand the command language that you are sending to it. Datamax has its own language and you will need a branch in your code to support that if the printer does not work with ZPL.
