If that does not mend the problem maybe its time to give Acer a call...

Hello Acer Aspire 5534 and Acer Aspire 5535 has same model touchpads manufactured by Synaptics. If driver and software are not installed scroll pad does not work. You can download driver from Acer website for this model http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5535.html or directly from Synaptics web site choosing your operating system http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers I hope this will solve your problem
