my fridge is not cold but my freezer is fine. What should I do.

  • Anonymous Jul 15, 2008

Yup! Got the same problem. Not managed to find many pictures of my model, but it's the fridge upstairs, the freezer downstairs and it stands at about 6 feet 3 or 4 inches.

The light in the fridge works normally and I can hear the freezer which seems to be working fine but the fridge is warm, the display reads 11 degrees. It's been like this for a few days. Normally the bottom draw of my freezer section gets jammed up with ice after a couple of months but there's not that much ice that I can see.

Can someone help me please? I'm going to try and leave it off for a couple of hours in the morning and see what happens. Thanks!

Ok, got it sussed! [well here's what I did anyway]...

Quite simply, I turned off the fridge-freezer at the mains overnight and in the morning, broke and chucked out the ice chunks that had lined up in the bottom of the freezer section and then turned it back on. I returned that night to see that it was working fine again! Hallelujah, I got my fridge back!!

So it seems that all it needed was a good long defrost, so far so good! I hope this solves your problem.

Just read another thread on this and I have a similar problem

Is the fridge just getting warm but the light is on ? (is anyone home ??)

the thread recommends switching it off for a couple of hours at the mains as the frost free section of the fridge may be iced up behind the panels

Not sure it this wokrs but trying it tonight on mine to see if it makes a difference (there is no other reason for mine to fail as the freezer is fine, the compressor tries it's hardest and the light comes on)

Write to Bosch and to your supplier, there are many of us out there who have to defrost several times a year for this appalling fault that is due to poor design and bad engineering by Bosch.
There is no excuse for this and it is hardly a cheapo fridge freezer. If you stick with it you will be defrosting every 2/3 months if you're lucky, you will get caught out time and time again with wasted food, and also have to empty your freezer to do this to. Once again, appalling show by Bosch - make a noise people!

I have the same problem about twice a year and its because it needs defrosting even though its suppose to be frost free. My fridge was not working properly after it was 6 months old and the engineer come out and just defrosted it with a hair drier and it was fine. Its a common fault on this particular model he told me.

SOURCE: suspected broken fan prevents top fridge section cooling down

Very good diagnosis and conclusion. That price for the motor is about right. I think you will not have any truble with the ciculation after you install the motor.

You might check this link for details that are similar to your fridge issue. Likely you do not have cold air fanning to the bottom compartment hence not cool. I assume your seals work properly and that it is a fridge internal issue.

Fridge Ices Up Even on the Warmest Setting (Freezer Working Fine)

Sounds like the cold control has stuck . Unplug the two wires from the cold control and plug them together. Turn one wire over and plug it into the other. away from the cold control.
If it runs then that cold control is the problem.

When the fridge is not cooling that means the fan are not working or not working properly, need to replace or check if their is an ice bothering the fan to turn. ok

FRIDGE NOT WORKING

Most side by side and other models of refrigerator freezer combinations are of one basic design. The freezer section does the cooling for both compartments. The refrigerator section gets it cold air from the freezer compartment. Therefore check for frost on the back wall of the freezer compartment. If frost is present there you have a defrost problem and it is cutting off the air that cools the refrigerator section.

I think this problem may already be resolved in some manor because of the date of post. Posts should expire after an unreasonable time period.

FREEZER SECTION WORKING OK, FRIDGE SECTION NOT WORKING

Check the vents of your fridge side if present, if no air then may be your blower not working or some ice formation that blocks the air(try defrosting). Check also your vents for obstruction or overloaded with stocks.

Whirlpool fridge

3 things can cause this:

1) Inoperable fan in the freezer.
2) Defrost problem (frost build up on back panel in the freezer)
3) Damper inoperable (vent in the fridge section)

Look for these symptoms and let me know what you find.
