Re: setting up fax machine to receive

Scanned documents are very fuzzy ( not readable) even when set on 600 dpi. What can I do? I had a F50 and had no problems.

Sending Methods Sending From Your Machine (Memory Sending)
  1. Load the document on the Platen Glass or the ADF.

If you have only one sheet to scan, press <OK>..
      2. Press <Color> to send in color, or <Black> to send in black and white.

IMPORTANT: If you do not press the same button you pressed in step 5, the machine does not start scanning.
      3. Repeat steps 5a and 5b to scan in all pages of the document.
      4. Press <OK>.

    • When the document was loaded in the ADF:

The machine starts sending automatically after the document is scanned in.

Note: Color sending is available only when the recipient's fax machine supports color faxing.
  • To cancel sending before sending a fax, press <Stop/Reset>.
  • To cancel memory sending while sending a fax, follow any instructions on the LCD after pressing <Stop/Reset>.
  • If the document remains in the ADF after pressing <Stop/Reset> during sending a fax, press <OK>. The remaining document is automatically fed out.

Sending From Your Machine (Manual Sending)
Use manual sending when you want to talk to the recipient before sending a document, or if the recipient does not have a fax machine that can receive automatically.
  • With manual sending, you cannot use the Platen Glass to send documents.
  • You will need to connect a telephone to your machine if you want to talk to the recipient before sending a document.
Follow this procedure:
  1. Connect a telephone to your machine if you want to talk to the recipient before sending a document

  2. Load the document in the ADF.

    Sending from the ADF

  3. Press <FAX>.

  4. Adjust the settings for your document as necessary.

  5. You can lift the handset if one is connected to the machine.

  6. Dial the recipient's number using the numeric keys or coded speed dialing.

  7. Talk through the handset to the recipient. (If you hear a high-pitched signal instead of the
recipient's voice, go to step 9.)

  8. Ask the recipient to set recipient's fax machine to receive faxes.

  9. When you hear a high-pitched signal, press <Color> for color sending, or <Black> for black & white sending. Then hang up the handset.

SOURCE: how to set machine to receive incoming fax?

Receive a fax
You can receive faxes automatically or manually. If you turn off the Auto Answer option,
you must receive faxes manually. If you turn on the Auto Answer option (the default
setting), the device automatically answers incoming calls and receives faxes after the
number of rings that are specified by the Rings to Answer setting. (The default Rings to Answer setting is five rings.)

SOURCE: Can't use the fax on my Canon MP 530

There are 2 ports on the rear, 1 for the incomming phone line, and one to plug in a telephone handset (passthrough) if the telephone line is plugged into the wrong port, the fax machine is unable to dial properly, So try plugging into the other port on the back, it's just next to the other port hope this helps

SOURCE: Cannot receive faxes on Canon Pixma MX870, but can send faxes

There is also a setting for the ring pattern that the unit uses to identify a fax. Set it to match the incoming ring.

EX: I have a single line and hook up the printer only when I am expecting a fax. I had to change the setting from double ring to NORMAL before it would pick up.

Do not know how to turn on "receive faxes". can only send faxes. How do I turn on receive faxes?

if you are able to send faxes it means you are set up correctly, meaning that you have connected your printer/fax machine up correctly to the phone lines. all you need to do is make sure the printer/fax is on while you are receiving the fax, there is no "fax receive mode" however, you need to know that if you use the same line for your phone and for your fax that your phone will ring when receiving a fax, if you answer it will ruin the fax, there is a special configuration you can access which will let your printer work more effectively, such as to intercept faxes and immediately process them before letting your phone ring, or waiting a certain amount of time or such. you can consult the specifications of your device to know the exact settings you have available.

Go to menu option and choose the option fax and set the parameter like auto receive or manual set the ring auto answer mode after certain ring. If it is in auto receiving mode it will receive the fax after the ring which you set. Make sure the phone wire which you insert in fax machine getting proper dial tone and getting out going calling facility.

Able to send faxes but unable to receive faxes.

You probably have to set something up in your settings.

Usually this goes: Settings>Fax Setup>Receive

Of course, this is generic, and all Fax machines are different. Is there a model number?

Can send out faxes but can't receive the faxes

Make sure the machine is set to auto receive, and make sure the phone cord is in the line jack on the machine. Also if the machine is connected to a line with an answering machine set the fax to pick up before the answering machine does.

Do not know how to send a fax

Check the send/receive settings. A lot of times, these all-in-one machines have auto answer settngs so that the fax machine does not answer every phone call with a fax signal. Go into the menu and see if you have auto answer off or on, and then also check to make sure if you need an answer code to answer the fax when auto answer is not on.

Cannot recieve or send faxes

Check out the Easy Setup Instructions available here. If you can neither send nor receive faxes, you may not have the phone line connected to the correct port, see page 34 of the guide. Also check what receive mode the machine is set for. Pages 42 and 43 explain the different options and how to change the receive mode.

No answer when sending fax

The receiving fax machine never answered. Maybe their fax machine is set to MANUAL or is disconnected.

It's not your fax machine that's the problem.

Note: check your equipment for:

Receiving a fax automatically:
1 Make sure the Fax Auto Answer light is on.
2 To set the number of telephone rings before the printer automatically receives faxes,
Receiving a fax with an answering machine
When a telephone ring is detected, the answering machine picks up the call.
If the printer detects a fax, it receives the fax and disconnects the answering machine.
If the printer does not detect a fax, the answering machine receives the call.
2 Set the answering machine to answer incoming calls before the printer does.
For example, if you set the answering machine to answer calls after three rings, set the printer to answer calls
after five rings.
3 To set the number of telephone rings before the printer automatically receives faxes.

Hp 5610 won't receive fax from lexmark fax

Are you able to receive faxes from others from the same location, if not just ask her to consult her service provider and ask to get the no checked of yours why is it that you she is not able to send fax to you only as your fax machine is capable of sending and receiving fax from others it should be dsome issue with her service provider.
If it was your All-In-One printer thrn you should not have received faxes from any one, not a specific number.

Good Luck
