the keys on the keyboard don't work

i have travelmate 4270 acer laptop.
the mouse and keyboard not functioning when boot-up to windows.
i put in external mouse and keyboard it works and aslo on safe mode, iv restored windows on it still the same.
please help.!

num lock on but no numbers showing up
caps ligt on but no caps
caps light off but caps displayed
numbers across keyboard no numbers displayed
but with caps lights on will display the higher case such as @ sign + sign % sign etc> but no numbers if cap light is off
in fact will not show anything... please respond

The kensington ci70 wireless keyboard will not work but the mouse works. I have tried everything! Help.

GuruDoes it work if you connect it to another computer? Are the lights for Num Lock\Caps Lock on?
