Question about Uniden TRU9480 Cordless Phone

Uniden TRU9480 5.8GHz Cordless Does not receive calls/ ring & caller ID does not work

Bought this system brand new a while ago & a bunch of extra compatible handsets - only thing is that it never worked 100% - has dial tone (can dial out), but never registers incoming calls by ringing or on caller ID. Bought the system b/c of the intercom system (I'm recently disabled) & b/c it was expandable up to 10 handsets.

Returned the original base & got a replacement back - which does the same thing! Sent it back to the mfg & explained the problem, but all they did was reset the base (still doesn't work!) & I could have done that myself. I am so aggrevated with the piece of junk that it's been just sitting in my closet

This is more than just a resetting problem, since I have reset/ re-registered the base/ handsets, etc. Now I'm looking to just buy a new base & throw this one in the garbage - but wondering if it's even worth it! Have a bad taste in my mouth after this whole experience - is this thing just fried or is there anything I can do to fix it a.s.a.p.?

I own one to. I had the same problem. When I dailed a number it wouldnt dail until I got almost to the base. I was running a wireless router for my laptops the signal was interfering with my cordless phones.

Try this .go to menu,then settings , then call settings ,then press' Show caller Id.'I hope this works for you .

Uniden DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Digital Answering System has Caller ID Problem - Its not showing the caller Id's and phone book enteries.!

cannot see the caller id working or it doesn't display the number of who is calling. bought these phones a month and half ago.

Thanks for using FixYa. I think you have stored more than 100 Caller ID messages and hence the caller ID is not showing on Uniden Tru8888. In the following cases the caller ID will not be shown-

If you answer a call before the Caller ID message is received (for example, before the second ring), the Caller ID message will not appear.

When the call is received via a telephone company that does not offer Caller ID service, the caller’s phone number and name does not appear. (This includes some international calls.)

When the call is via a private branch exchange (PBX), the caller's phone number and name may not appear.

You may receive any one of the following messages:

When a private name is received; Private Name
When a private number is received; Private Number
When a unknown name is received; Unknown Name
When a unknown number is received; Unknown Number
When invalid data is received; Incomplete Data

The Caller ID list stores information for incoming calls - even unanswered calls. You can store up to 100 Caller ID messages and phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) for each handset and the base. You can view the Caller ID list through the handset or base during a call or when the phone is in standby mode.

Memory locations for Caller ID messages and Phonebook entries (including Speed Dials) are common, you can store up to all 100 entries for each handset and the base. Caller ID messages are not stored when you have 100 phonebook entries. When you have stored a total of 100 phonebook entries and Caller ID messages, the oldest Caller ID message is overwritten.

Uniden CXA15198 not showing caller id

Hi! There is a small device available in the market which is a converter. By connecting this between landline and phone, caller ID start display simply.

It cost to me Rs.450/- made by Fintel. Try to get it cheaper at your place.

Try this and the problem is solved.

Caller ID doesn't display and phone rings 1 time then stops

The Uniden TRU9XXX series has a high level of handset compatibility between bases. Depending on the handsets you bought to go with your 9480, you may be able to buy another model in the series and use the old handsets with the new model. Alternatively, you could buy another 9480 here (the -2 on the end of your model number just means that it came with an extra handset).

Before you do that, though, it might pay to hook up a regular (corded) caller ID-enabled phone to the line and see what happens there when you call. If it works properly, go buy your new phone. However, if you see the same behavior there as with the Uniden, chances are that the problem is not with the phones. Possible other causes could include a fax machine, modem, or other device in-line with the phone; a defective piece of equipment hooked up elsewhere in your house; etc. If nothing obvious applies, you might want to give the phone company another call--just because they couldn't find a problem on their end doesn't mean one doesn't exist.

I was using this site while trouble shooting this in the US...
If the customer has DSL with filters in the same system go back to the NID and Isolate the DSL,
test the caller id and call waiting caller id. If this works you have Data Bleed coming from the DSL.
Make sure there are not two sets of filters on the line. Tjis customer had a filter with the DSL modem.

Doing this we just fixed an on going problem for a field tech who was the second callout on a customer issue.

Caller id

This is a feature from your phone company you may have to pay extra for. Caller ID information is normally transmitted just after the first ring. When you are using call waiting there is no ring.
