- Hi, My delonghi primadonna coffee machine will not draw up milk.It trys to but it just doesnt happen. I have checked the lines for milk stones and thats not the problem, the lines are clean. The milk container is clean,If i replace the milk container with the water spout,i can get hot water through the same section of the machine that does the milk. I have descaled the machine 3 times and that hasn't made a difference. I have added just water in the milk container and that doesn't work either, i just get steam and a dribble of water coming through(probably only steam really and not actually water). The machine will still produce coffee so thats fine. The tube inside the milk container fits tightly.I dont know what else i can tell you. Everything works except it wont draw up milk. hope you can solve this for me , thankyou

- Hi Justaskjoe, I have checked what you suggested again and it seems ok and clean. I have always used low fat milk in the milk container and while testing it i am using water in the milk container. What i have recently discovered is when i run the milk setting and if i very slowly push the milk frother thingy from cappuccino towards the flat white setting i have gotten the milk container to draw up water. This does not happen every time i try i though, but i has happened a couple of times. Also when i push the clean button on the milk container the coffee machine makes a beep registering the action but nothing happens. I think we have narrowed the problem down to the milk container but i dont know what else to do . I hope this information is helpful and i look forward to your reply. Thankyou.

- Hi, None of the solutions have had any success to date. i believe we have narrowed the problem down to the milk container. the milk container is only 6 mths old. I have discovered that when i run the milk setting and slowly push the frother control from cappuccino towards the flat white setting i sometimes get the milk to draw up, I try it again but it doesnt work all the time only sometimes, when it does work its always between Latte and flat white setting on the milk container. ( I am using water at the moment)I have always used low fat milk too. when i push the clean button on the milk container the coffee machine makes a beep to register the action but nothing happens.i am i the only person to ever have had this problem as it seems difficult for us all to solve. I hope someone can help, its very frustrating hey. i Look forward to your solution. Thankyou for your patience.

- Hi Iseri, Like i said in my last post i am using water at the moment and when i slowly push the frother setting from cappuccino to latte and then towards flat white , i sometimes get it to draw up the water. I think i might have solved it as i have recently discovered the black O- ring where the milk container connects has a couple of like chips off the O-ring. I am going to try and get a perfect replacement tommorrow from a bearing shop that can measure the o-ring and give me a replacement. If that is the solution i will let you know. Would that o-ring also affect the cleaning button on the milk container? As in my last post i explained that when i push the cleaning button nothing happens. If the o-ring doesnt affect the cleaning button can u please tell me why that wont work then . Thankyou , I look forward to your response.

Hi.

The pump lines inside the machine are probably clogged.

Do the regular milk container orifice cleaning, as expeined at pages 7/8 of this guide, follow procedure from picture 32 to picture 42.

Do also a complete descaling.

If that does not fix the problem, then fill then fill the milk container with cleaner solution, and cycle the machine several times.
Instead of cleaning solution someone uses water with vinegar. This is equally effective, but I do not like the vinegar smell coming from machine after cleaning. If you do not find cleaning solution, buy citric acid, solve it in water and draw up a full reservoir of cleaning citric acid and water solution.

If it still does not work, then call Delonghi at the number listed on your owner manual, complain and point out that you did not do any improper use of the machine, they may offer you replacement or discounted repair plan.

Regards.

Is the milk and the pitcher cold? It should be. It also seems to **** easier with non-fat and very low fat milk. 2% and whole milk have a harder time occasionally in these machines. Everything else seems to be legit. Good o-ring and tight hoses, and cleanliness are the first steps which you have already taken care of.

Does it draw up water, if you fill the milk container with water instead of milk? If it does, it could be that the milk is not the "right" milk - Delonghi suggests using refrigerated semi-skimmed milk, about 100 cc at a time. If it doesn't draw even water, the pumping might be at fault. You can maybe feel with a finger over the milk intake tube whether there is suction or not.

the frothing container is not getting in proper position.remove the container.clean it and reset it again properly.and then check out.
Milk Frother The majority of milk frothers on coffee machines are the same; however you are more than likely going to need practice to get the correct technique. You should have a stainless steel or aluminium jug/container and have the frothing nozzle wand at a 40 degree slant.
Cleaning and Maintenance Coffee machines that are at the top end of their market are usually self-cleaning; they will pass steam through the system and pipes which should remove any residue. We recommend that this function is used every other day, whereas the more basic machines should be cleaned every day. You should pay extra attention to the water tank to reduce the build up of lime scale, and don’t forget to clean the milk frother well. Alwaysfollow the instruction manual when cleaning your machine.

Hello. Thanks for choosing Fixya! I can assist you. There are a couple of things that I want you to check. First of all remove the milk intake tube and check it over. Then take extra care to reinsert it exactly as shown in figure 19 at the beginning of the owner manual. In case you do not have the owner manual, here is a downloadable copy for you
http://www.delonghiusa.com/index.php?texts&pid=10 Be sure to get the one for your machine which is ESAM 6600.
Finally, check the type of milk you are using. Here is the company recommendation: We recommend using fat-free or low-fat milk at refrigerator temperature (about 41°F/5°C). If you are still not getting the required results, try changing the brand of milk.

- Hello again. I noticed that your question is still up and unanswered. i am assuming that you had no luck by simply resetting the milk intake tube. No problem. My recommendation now is for you to call the parts and accessories number at Delonghi and speak directly to one of their representatives. The next step for you would be to replace the part that actually draws the milk up into the machine. The representative will assure that they send you the correct part along with the instructions on how to replace it. It will be a quick and easy fix. Enjoy your next latte!! Regards, Joe
