Try these steps:

1. First of all connect your PC Directly with Modem & check if you're able to go online or not.

2. If No , then contact your ISP.

3. If yes ,Disconnect CAT5 cable coming out of Modem from PC & connect into WAN port (on rear panel you'll find it) of Linksys WRT300N Router , After that on rear panel you'll find small hole with a Reset button inside it. Use needle or pen to press it quiet hard for 1 minutes continuosly, This'll restore all default settings.

4. After that give static IP - 192.168.1.2 to your PC ,subnet mask 255.255.255.0 ,default gateway - 192.168.1.1 & connect your PC directly with a LAN port on the back side of Router.

5. After that type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your explorer & login window will come , type username = admin & leave password field blank, then you'll get Blue coloured Router configuration page, From this page you can configure your Router.

6.Now if your Internet connection is Cable then default setting will work for you, However for DSL connection ,on this page you'll find internet connection type - selectiondrop down box - select PPPoE into it for DSL connection.

7. After that restart your computer & you should be able to go online.

Check the cable connection between the modem and the router.
You said that the Internet light is not on on the modem or on the router.

Need the driver for Linksys WRT300N V1 ... can't find the CD

Hi,

The LINKSYS WRT300N is a standalone device, there are no software/driver needed on your PC for the router to work. However, there is an easy Setup Wizard that is in the CD that normally comes with the unit.

Unfortunately, Linksys did not make the specific Setup Wizard (Version 1.3) for the WRT300N available online. However, if you care to try the Setup Wizard for a WRT54GC, it may downloaded from the LINKSYS ftp site here. I used to have a WRT54G and I did make use of the Setup Wizard for that model. I upgraded to WRT300N. The setup wizard for the old WRT54G worked likewise on the new WRT300N.

Alternately, the WRT300N can still be configured without the CD or the Setup Wizard by logging into the Configuration Page (192.168.1.1). Remember to use LAN interface when setting the router (as shown in the connection diagram) and set your PC to an IP Address of 192.168.1.2, Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0; Follow on screen instructions and enter settings/configurations manually.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information. Additionally, if you still prefer to have a copy of the original WRT300N Setup Wizard, pls include your email address that I may send it to you as an attachment.

Good luck and kind regards.

Configure WRT300N wireless Router to connect internet using PPPoE

Often the nets and subnets are NOT the same.. ie The Fixed connection often uses 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, however sometimes the wifi is setup 10.1.1.1, or 10.0.0.1 etc, have you checked this? Esentially tho ya router is an "Acess Point" and ya Lappy etc is ya "Client" the links below has a lot of tutorials to help have a look. http://portforward.com/routers.htm http://portforward.com/guides.htm
