The image below shows the wiring diagram for your model of dryer. The door switch is shown in the closed position. When the door is opened, the contact is broken that completes the neutral circuit through the door switch. (I am not showing that your model of dryer has a drum light. If it did, then the drum light would illuminate when the door is opened.)
Based on your symptom, a bad door switch is apparently causing this problem. It is not breaking the neutral circuit to stop the motor from running. Replacing the door switch assembly should fix this problem. NOTE: Be sure to unplug the dryer before accessing any internal components.
