Question about Pioneer VSX-D511 Receiver

Vsx-d511 digital coax input

Hi, my receiver recently stopped producing sound on DVD/LD setting after a friend used it but he didn't unwire anything so i think it's just the settings. I have the receiver connected to my dvd player via the digital coax input. It seems to me that the issue is that the input signal refuses to change from ANALOG to DIGITAL, it merely toggles between DVD/LD ANALOG and DVD5.1ch ANALOG when pressing the signal select button. I don't have anything else connected other than the dvd player with the coax cable and i've tested the speakers and other inputs seem to be fine.. any ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.. any thoughts??

No sound on coax audio input from HDTV

Check your settings on your tv. You may have to turn off the internal tv speakers in the setup menu in order to get any audio output from the jacks on the back.

Pioneer VSX-D307 Receiver - no audio using DVD inputs

Sometimes the default on receivers in dvd mode will be digital. Make sure you are on an analog input or just try an optical or digital coax out of the dvd player and be done.

Pioneer receiver VSX-D411

Yes techtod you are right you do have to tell the receiver what you want it to do usually on the front panel you can access set up menu and go into input set up This is an example Say you plugged the dvd into optical one or coax 1 you must go to the input that says dvd click down till you highlight dig input and then select optical 1 or coax 1 there can be as many as 8 digital inputs so just check wich one you plugged it into and then tell the amp then you should be back to watching your digital movies

Buzzing emitted by vsx-409

Could be the result of having DTS compatible equipment connected through the analog inputs on the VSX-409D. Noise and distortion will result as essentially the DTS signal is being played back undecoded. If this is the case you'll have to connect your LD or CD player through the digital connections (coax or optical) and set 'Signal Select' (button on front) to 'Digital'.

Digital optical from DVD player produces no audio

Hi, It sounds like your receiver is still looking for audio on the coaxial connection, rather than the optical.

1. Make sure the optical connection is between your DVD player and the LD/DVD Optical In on the back of your receiver.
2. If you have a monitor connected to the receiver to show the on-screen display, click Setup from the main menu, click Input Mode, then, next to LD/DVD choose Optical. It may be set to coaxial, analog or auto.

Alternatively, choose the input source on the front of your receiver (LD/DVD), then press Input Mode button (bottom right, near the input selector) till it displays Digital Optical.

If all else fails, reset the receiver by:
1. Turn off the receiver
2. Hold down DISPLAY and PANEL UP/DOWN buttons and press power.
3. All Clear should appear on the screen.

Use caution, however, as this will erase all the settings in your receiver.

Digital Audio moved from TV/SAT to DVD/LD

Using the remote control, push the left arrow until display shows Coax1 (or 2, depending on your setup), then push the up arrow to set it to TV/SAT.
Conversely, depending on your setup, you can push the left arrow to display Comp1 (or2) then push the up arrow to set the correct video setting-- DVD/LD I assume.
