Question about HP PSC 1610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Wont scan at all

I just had to reinstall my Operating system and then I had to reinstall my software for my HP PSC1610v All-in-One now it wont scan says I need to install device features. What does this mean exactly?

    Printer says no scan options- need to install software. But the other features have been working. I don't know where my printer software is. Can I download it?

    i have install software and it tells me ready to use but the printer will not scan at all wha can i do next.

That, and be sure that you have the right cords on the printer. Have you tried unplugging the machine from the CPU, rebooting,and then allowing Windows to "find" it all by itself?
That often takes care of problems as well.

For a worst case scenario you may have to reinstall your Operating System. But try installing Auslogics BoostSpeed and running the diagnostics. Have you installed anything prior to the problem? Sometimes new software can corrupt old system files when you install. Try uninstalling the last software you installed. Hope this helps.

I have an HP Photosmart 2575 and the message "refer to device documentation" appears when I try to scan. (Printer stopped scanning with installation of updated operating system) I use Mac OS X version...


The printer scan button wouldn't work for me either. I had to install the HP Solution Center software from CD onto my Windows Vista PC then I use its scan document software button to do any scanning.

Will not scan


if the driver is ok and do not have a scanner software ...you can use the windows scanning wizard ..from control panel ...scanners and cameras..and you can give commends to the scanner...
anyway if it do not scan at all just reinstall the software and the driver for it ...be sure that the driver is compatible wit the operating system you are using ...

I have a Photosmart 3310 that I use with a MacBook Pro. I have scanned before but all of a sudden I can't scan. I have tried restarting, reinstalling software, restarting Photoshop. Help!!!


Don't reinstall Photoshop any more, that's not necessary. Just leave PS alone.
Have you done anything, like upgraded the operating system?
Try a couple of things. We'll start with the easiest.
Try scanning directly from the "Preview" application - this works really well.
Open the application "Preview"
Go to the File menu, and then "Import from Scanner" - hopefully your scanner shows up ...
This is a great way to scan.
If your printer/scanner does not show up when you do this, you will need to (sorry to say) re-install the software for the printer. But you said you already did that!
I'm going to suggest, if you haven't already, to go to hp.com and find your printer and download the package of software for it and reinstall that way - they periodically update the software. HP printers are a bit fussy about this, so reinstalling the "latest" HP software is definitely worth trying.

When I try to scan from printer to computer I get 'scan error'. See documentation. I am trying to scan to a mac - does that matter?


You need to use the grey cd to install the software onto your Mac if you have not already done so. If you don't have the Mac CD you can download the installation software and all drivers from HP here (select your operating system first).

If you have installed it aready, try uninstalling and then reinstalling using the HP website to obtain the updated drivers etc. rather than your CD.

Once you have uninstalled the software, disconnect your printer and then restart your computer. Do not re-connect your printer until you have reinstalled the software.

To verify that the software has installed properly, look for the HP Solution Centre on your desktop, double click on the icon and check that both "scan picture" and |"scan document" are showing.

Wont scan


It sounds like your software did not install completely. What operating system are you using? Have you tried to download new drivers from HP,s web site. Did you get any errors on the driver installation? Here is a link for the new drivers. This may fix the problem.. I also found another link for your problem if your software only installed 96% and you only have 2 icons in HP director or solution center this will cause scan problems. Please look at 2nd link first. Please let me know if this helps.
