Hi, My GE microwave oven model no. JVM1850CD 002 stopped heating a few days ago, and now has a dull sound to it. Prior to this it had been working great.

- Hi milleraba, I had all the door safety interlock switches along with the fuse checked out. Thay were all good;appliance counter technician said he thinks the magnatron could be faulty. I will be contacting an appliance technician soon. Thanks, RichardSolution #1

Please check the door safety interlock switches which you will find opposite the door hinge. Check them with a volt./ohm meter. You will hnave to remove the cover. Dont fool with the start capacitor.
What typically happens, Richard, is if you open the door while the oven is working, the switches arc and will eventually burn to the point that they cannot complete the circuit. When this happens, the oven thinks the door is open and it will not turn on the heat (magnatron).
