"Out of Original Lexmark Ink" nag:

I got this on my Z1300. There is a "learn more" button that allows the nag to be turned off. Worked for me, at least for tonight.

Lexmark has a chip in their ink cartidges that prevents them from being refilled. A company in N.C. had a resetter that would allow this restriction to be by-passed. Lexmark sued the company under the DMCA act and has gotten a court injunction against the company.

Instructions for refilling cartridges on a Lexmark Prevail Pro705 printer

Please note that Lexmark does not recommend the use of refilled, re-manufactured or clone cartridges. You might not get the print quality you expect from the ink that is specially formulated by Lexmark.

After refilling my cartridge it shows ink level low for one cartridge and gives two error messages for every printing but prints. But for another cartridge it does not print and give message to buy a new...

Original Printer manufacturers do not recommend refilling in cartridges.
Different inks used in different cartridges differ in density, color, acidity etc. Usually refilling ink is made as universal ink. i.e. They produce the ink for 'any printer'.
The differences in the original and refiling inks might lead to the printer not recognizing the ink level.
Either buy a new cartridge or just ignore the messages.

How do I install the Lexmark 4550 ink cartridges? There is no answer shown to the original question.

Lift the lid so you can see the inside. The cartridges will move to a position that you can change the inks. Close the lid, and print a test page

You cannot refill lexmark ink cartridges successfully suggest you buy the original as you are not easily going to find generics good luck try and buy the high yield cartridge at least 200-300 pages extra depending on the model

I need to reset my ink levels on my lexmark s305 after refilling cartridges

I managed to successfully refill the black cartridge for the S305; I did it when the printer warned of 'very low black ink' (although it didn't print very well - i.e. grey - until the following day). It kept displaying 'low ink' but printed fine for a few months.
I think if you can catch it before the printer decides it needs an 'official' refill or replacement then it works (although when exactly this is is a mystery, as it always displays 'low' for black ink).
Yesterday, the printer decided it wouldn't print until the cartridge was changed.
Refilled; waited for half a day;replaced several times; turned the printer on and off 5 times with no cartridge in (to see if it would wipe the printer's memory of the cartridge); and spent about 4 hours online trying to find a solution.
If it starts working tomorrow, I'll let you know. I don't want to mess about with software that may reset the ink levels. (If anyone finds some that works, please post!)
It looks like Lexmark have ensured they can pile in the cash with their original cartridges.
I've heard about generic cartridges that are chipped to avoid the above problem - I'll visit my local refill store soon.
There must be a way round this!
Cheers, Fronter

I've refilled my black ink cartridge #36 and put it into my Lexmark 5650. My computer will not let me print - not even to "complete a page" print. It says that I need more ink. I have windows vistas. What...

Lexmark 36 and 37 cartridges cannot be refilled. When your ink levels drop below a certain point your printer deactivates the electronics on your cartridge so you cannot refill them. I own a Cartridge World ink refilling shop and I sell Lexmark originals for the 36 and 37 because of this reason. Unfortunately you purchased a machine that you have to buy expensive original ink for. You need to buy Lexmark original 36 and 37 to get your printer to work. As a refiller I never recommend someone buy a Lexmark printer if they ever want to use refills.

Display reads: left cartridge incorrect (using refilled cartridge)

“Lexmark does not support the refilling of its ink cartridges. Refilling the ink cartridges can cause them to leak, thus clogging or even damaging the print head. Any damage to your printer caused by refilled ink cartridges may not be covered under warranty”. Please use genuine Lexmark cartridges for best results.
