All front load washers have the problem. Mold and a build up or dirt and soap and fabric softner cause s old musty smell. The low water use makes the machine dirty and build up inside. Run a few Hot water washes with out clothing, Run it empty ,(run your hot water neer your washer to get the cold water out of the house pipes) hot water and pour bleach in side, 2 or more cups. Keep doing it. When your not using washer leave the door open so air can get inside. Hot wash,es with bleach will keep it clean, also dont use fab softner.
I agree that there is a little water left in the machine. This causes the moldy smell. I only use one load a week and i have same problems I will try to not use softner and use bleach once in a while. leaving the door open helps a lot..
Hello Loree Grudem - This can be the result of the shaft bearing and seal. They may have become worn and the transmission oil is creeping up to get in your water. Once this happens, it gets on your clothes to cause staining. Or possibly you have a buildup of fabric softener that comes loose and puts a greasy like substance in your water and on your clothing. Once you put your clothes in the dryer and the old fabric softener melts you will see these spots. I suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately.
