Re: Symbol MC70

Have you tried the classic "hard boot"?

Do you have a WAN or LAN radio configuration?
Has the device worked for you in the past ... and no will not?

Until you answer my questions and I get back to you you might try pulling the battery out for 10 min or so... see if it reboots when you reinstall it

Resetting the MC75

There are two reset functions, warm boot and cold boot. A warm boot restarts the MC75 by closing all running

programs. A cold boot also restarts the MC75, and also resets the clock. Data saved in flash memory or a memory

card is not lost.

If the MC75 is not functioning properly, perform a warm boot first. If the MC75 still does not respond, perform a cold

Performing a Warm Boot

Hold down the Power button for approximately five seconds. As soon as the MC75 starts to boot release the

Power button.

Performing a Cold Boot
To perform a cold boot simultaneously press the Power button and the 1 and 9 keys.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

Perpetual loading, extremely slow. Symbol MC70 Scanner

To get the device back to factory settings is the cold boot not enough. You would need to download the clean boot files from, the files for Windws Mobile 5 unit are located here
The instrictions are provided in the zip file.

M7094 Warm Boot Error

Go to, then click on the "Click here to enter Support Central" link. From there enter "clean boot" in the search box and select "Mobile Computers" in the Product Line drop-down and MC70 in the Product drop-down. Then click "Go". When the results are displayed, choose to sort by "Most recent" instead of "Most relevant". Then the first entry will be the clean boot files for if your device is running WM 6.1, and the one that's about 5 entries down will be the clean boot files for if your device is running WM 5.0.

My symbol MC70 does not come on after going into suspend mode. I have to do a cold boot.

If you're sure there is not a system setting that could be the cause, just try a power cycle - hold the power button for a couple seconds (not long enough to cold boot), then hit it again to turn it on.

You may also want to check your internal and external battery life to see if the device is shutting down to conserve power.

One other strange thing we've found with some devices (in particular, if you're having trouble turning the device on) we've found that just removing the battery and reinserting, or swapping it with another, can sometimes, on rare occasion, resolve some power issues.

I believe there was a known issue with one of the BSP releases (3.9?), so this may be the cause. Contact MOT to determine if the one you have could have been affected and ask them to fix it. You can try to upgade the BSP on your own, but it can be a hassle.

Good luck

How to reset MC70 using touch screen

Not using the touch screen.
But you can reboot from the POWER Button
By holding it in for 5 Secounds, ( this is a warm reboot)
By holding the power button plus the 1and the 9 buttonat the same time is a cold boot. This is a better way...
Hope this helps you!!!

Make that 81! There are days when the divice works like a dream. Then most of the time I just want to chuck the damned Symbol out of a moving van! I am tired of having to warm boot it every ten minutes because "the operation failed". The modem constantly locks up, and there is nothing you can do to debug it except warm boot it and wait ten minutes.
